while reading your macho-testosterone induced paranoid deluded rant, this picture kept poping in my head of what you would look like "I know deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then question the manner in which I provide it. I prefer you said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand to post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to."
The weapons found there weren't Saddam's so he wasn't a threat to use them on anyone. When Saddam did have WMD they weren't classified as IED's, and they were definitely in working order and condition since he did use them.
bama, not to interrupt the firefight you have going with the rest of the lefties here; but I would like you to address this point that I made earlier in the thread if you can:
Wesley Clark is no authority on any sort of national security issue. He was fired for incompetence, for chrissakes! I love how you guys classify me as paranoid just because I don't goosestep blindly to the leftist worldview. Some of you folks remind me of that Borg race on Star Trek with your singlemindedness. You all quote from the same talking points (via Krugman and other leftist traveler icons) and bear out the same, tired arguments against the right. Now as for me being biased against liberal policy, you better bet your ass I am. They stand for everything I oppose. They are no friend of economic liberty for all. It's all a dirty scheme to build a vote-proof govt. by stealing from the "evil" rich and buying votes with various giveaways. They are in bed with the enviro-whacknuts who are really like watermelons, green on the outside, red on the inside. Their goal is not a clean environment, but the very destruction of our capitalist system. They think the world is safer when law-abiding citizens are disarmed and only criminals and govt. have guns. They think the Imperial Federal govt. is the panacea for every "crisis" they wish to invent, be it health care or whatever. I could go on, but I'm tired and frankly, I want to go to bed. So Andy, how can I in good conscience vote for someone who is the enemy of every value I stand for? You tell me. GV76, no hard feelings dude. Not a one. You're still my favorite liberal.
bama, do you really believe this stuff, or is it just amusing for you to post? I hope it's extreme exaggeration for the hell of it, because if it's not, I think you need to seriously consider getting some professional help. And I'm not kidding.
You define everybody, person, and thing that doesn't agree with you as the ideological opposite of you. "I'm x? oh, well they're y, all y's are bad and hate x's, and they want to get me!" Yet you don't seem to have a very accurate perception of y, you prejudge it and refuse to admit error or concede that either something is not y, or that y is not always bad, as is qutie frequently the case. The world is a lot more complicated than that. I know, you hate nuance. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist. That must be a stressful, adversarial way to go through life. Calm down, dude, you are going to have a heart attack or a stroke. I'm not kidding about that. Relax. bamaslammer, here's an example: if liberals are out to get the evil rich and buy votes via federal programs, how do you account for the fact that 1. Blue States (EC, WC, urban areas) have higher per capita incomes than Red states; and 2. most Red States receive federal funding greater than their federal tax contribution, and most Blue States contribute more federal taxes than federal funding they receive. This is exactly the opposite of what you say is true; conservative leaning states are poorer, and more reliant on the federal government dole; while liberal states are richer and less likely to receive federal funding. By my count, that is now two glaring factual errors in this very thread that I have identified with your rationale for why Kerry is bad, liberals are evil, etc. Why don't you address them? Just because you ignore them doesn't make them not true. Honestly, I'm not trying to embarrass or burn you here, but these are facts that you need to address (and most likely, concede) in a legitimate way if you want to be taken seriously at all and not have elitists such as myself post pictures of cartoon characters whenever you llaunch into a missive. Of course, being taken seriously on a basketball message board probably isn't worth all that much in the long run, but still.....
You hereby lose all rights and claims (real or imagined) to label any other person's beliefs and/or statements to be "a crazy wacko liberal conspiracy."
I do believe it. I believe FDR thought the New Deal gave his party a way to dominate govt by making people realize that they could receive the lucre of other folks via the taxman. Social Security was the first of these vote-buying schemes and more were to follow. Last year, our federal govt's budget was over 2 TRILLION dollars. That is an obscenity that so much in the way of tax dollars flows to that cesspool on the Potomac to be redistributed as our political ruling class (thanks to incumbency protection act known as campaign finance) seeks to reward contributors and buy more votes with constituents. Am I angry at the state of affairs in this country? You betcha. I'm tired of a GOP president spending money like a drunken sailor on liberty at a bar. I'm tired of this media drumbeat on how the war is a "quagmire" and we have no shot of winning. I'm frustrated that the very same people who who burned their draft cards and ran away to Canada like cowards (for a war I admit that we had no business being in) are supporting a draft to get the children of those "evil rich" to fight so as to end our present war. I'm tired of having to chose between bad (Bush) and worst (Kerry) in a presidential election. I'm tired of ridiculous drug laws that lock up non-violent folks for trying to smoke a little bud (the son of one of my wife's co-workers had to work two jobs to pay a 800 dollar fine for possession of mar1juana, but he couldn't save up the money in time and had to do a week in county). I'm frustrated with the political class's yawns in the face of an invasion of illegal immigrants who obviously have no respect for our laws by bypassing them to enter the country. I'm sick and tired of judges "inventing" law from the bench, like the homosexual marriage in Massachusetts which will be jammed down the throat (no pun intended there.... ) of every state in the union. Civil unions with every right except the term marriage are not enough, eh? I'm tired of seeing the same, corrupt political class take office in Washington for every Congress. Term limit those old bastards out! I'm sick and tired of having the Federal Govt coming in and gobbling up my check for income tax/FICA/social security redistribution schemes. I'm tired of communities whining about how horrible it is when they close a base to save money when we have a Cold-War level of base structure for a non-Cold War level force. It's not a jobs program, you twits, but a means for our defense. I'm tired of the environmental movement in this country standing in the way of everything from building new powerplants and oil refineries, to prevent drilling in ANWAR and other spots to standing most new road construction (the endangered slime snail lives there, we have to sue!). A clean environment, which we largely have, is good, but is a perfectly pristine environment at the cost of jobs and growth better? I would go on, but frankly, I have cars to work on. My wife's Volvo needs an oil change, the Porsche needs to be examined for a clicking noise on the throttle when I drop the hammer (probably just some WD-40, the greatest substance on Earth will solve things ) and the old '79 Trans Am I'm restoring needs to have the interior put back in it after returning from the paint shop. That's all the therapy I need.
ARE YOU $HITTING ME!?!? The only goosestep you do lately is with the right. I swear, you used to strike me as reasonably intelligent, but lately you seem to be infected by the same madness as t_j. The only reason you dismiss Clark and Krugman is because you don't have a single cogent point to make in rebuttal to their writing. You just slam the "leftist worldview" even when you are discussing things with someone (like me) who hasn't voted Democrat in over a decade. I am much closer to Libertarian than Democrat, but with the damage that GWB has done and is doing to our country, I cannot in good conscience vote for him. I have no problem with you being biased against liberal POLICY, but you go further to being prejudiced against anyone who even remotely could be described as "liberal." The thing is, you do not argue against specific POLICIES, you just slam "liberals" and the "leftist worldview" without any sort of rational arguments. You generalize to the point of absurdity and actually seem to believe that Democrats (not Greens, but Democrats) are Socialists. That shows me that you do not have the ability to interpret information and that you are more like Don Quixote, tilting at your "liberal" windmills, than a rational, intelligent person. Generalize much? And how is this better than the GOP vote buying schemes (except that they want to steal from the poor instead of the rich)? If you actually believe this then you are even more insane than I give you credit for. Destruction of our capitalist system? Are you serious? Again, generalize much? Do you actually read ANYTHING or do you just make up these assumptions as you go along? Honestly, I wouldn't ever expect you to vote for Kerry. You are too biased and unwilling to read anything that goes contrary to your prejudged assumptions. I would just think that as a Libertarian, you would have at least as many problems with GWB as Kerry. You never answered my question, BTW. What do you think of Kerry's plan for the War on Terror?
We're grasping at straws for manpower, first it was some of the Arlington National Cemetary Honor Guard guys getting called up, now it's the guys who play the opfor for the armored divisions training. It's like the Top Gun pilots getting called to duty because we're short of pilots.
OK, so bamaslammer, by your silence I take it that are to embarrassed by your suppositions regarding the UN and Iraq to respond and that you acknowledge and that your theorem regarding democratic/republican vote buying schemes is stunningly inaccurate. Thanks for playing.
Wow, I would have expected a barely relevant tangent (full of equally incorrect, if different, assumptions than the ones I just busted you on). I do believe this is the first time you ever just chickened out and ran away. See you later.
You busted nothing. I guess this little "victory" is the only thing that gives you satisfaction in your life. If so, more power to you. I'm sure Bush is trying to kowtow to the likes of the nattering nabobs like you who believe the UN is the solution to all of the world's problems. He's making a big mistake if that's what he's doing. He needs to give doom-and-gloom crowd like yourself a big fat finger and get this job done. We will win in Iraq. There is no other choice if our nation is to survive. Otherwise, our weakness will create more terrorists than your idiotic notion that our invasion of Iraq ever would have. They will be emboldened further and with weak-minded fools like Kerry in the Oval Office, I guarantee we will be attacked again, possibly with the very WMD you say A. the Iraqis got rid of B. The shells we found were just old ones left over in contravention of the Gulf War cease fire agreement C. They would have never used them against us anyway even if they had them. It's all a neat and very convenient rationalization to cover up the fact you want us to fail miserably and want us humbled before the world. You would love for us to lose so Bush would be gone, right? And on this subject of nuance, I believe that one can get so nuanced as to have no right or wrong, but to just have so many subcategories and excuses as to render one incapable of making a moral judgement. While I agree that every situation in this world is not in black and white, one has to possess the ability to call a spade a spade, something the left in this country never has done. You're on the wrong side of history and in the end, unfortunately for me, vindication for us on the right will be long after I'm pitching to Ty Cobb and Ted Williams in the Cosmic League. Your childish attempt to call me out is exactly that. Childish. I bid you adieu.
I've explained to you my view of the UN on multiple occasions and won't go into it again. But anyway, what I want in Iraq is of no consequence, we've already lost and Bush is already gone. So I guess I am on the "wrong side of history", or as we call it over here, reality. In spite of that I make a lot more money than you do...muhuhahahahaha! (BTW, I await a colorful denunciation from you of Bush for being a spineless p***y for kowtowing to nattering nabobs such as myself.)
