When presenting an example, make sure your readers know that the example has emphasis, such as CAPS, bold, italics, or--in case there is no formatting available--put "the example in quotes like so." Please note my correction: Write As in "bring up" and "bring that mistake up." instead of As in, bring up and bring that mistake up. what?
It's not the temperature, it's the fact that most of the roads are covered in ice. Add that to the fact that over half the student population relies on UT buses to get to campus, and that the town is full of ass clowns that don't know how to drive on ice, and the school closing actually makes sense.
Eeek. Glad I don't live in Austin anymore. We didn't end up getting any ice here. I don't know how to drive in that stuff, and generally refuse to try it. I'll just stay home (or wherever I was) and deal with it.
Yes, but they have de-icing tools. You can't have a bunch of sandtrucks on standby in Austin when you get ice once every 3 years - it would be a colossal waste of money. People also don't get experience driving in it when they see it once every 3 years, and you have an army of students here who've never driven in it before since they just got licenses in the last 2-4 years.
I understand your frustration. I always wanted to take exams as quickly as possible and get it over with...plus if you wait longer then new information pushes the old info out of your head
Yeah, it now looks like I'm going to have to take 2 exams during dead week, while preparing for my 4 finals. How much does that suck?
When I was at Cornell, we needed like 5 feet of snow to cancel class, and even then, calling off classes wasn't a sure bet. But... ice? C'mon now. This means I have to go back to school next week for my review sessions. Plus, my marketing group doesn't get the chance to give our kickass presentation now. On the plus side, I get to sit at home and do nothing. I'm good at that.
