Most online gambling is irrelevant to Vegas. Poker, blackjack etc.. are already legal in tons of other places in the US. The one thing Vegas holds dear is sports betting. That's only legal in Vegas and the Vegas lobby has associates in all states and the federal government that have lobbied to keep it that way. Online gambling was the one get-around in terms of sports betting and Vegas had a big issue with that so I do believe they had some say in this.
