Where did you get that idea? Adults can't freely decide to drink, take drugs, prostitute themselves, or forfeit their citizenship. Why should gambling be any different?

I'd worry more about bots than people IMing each other.

Oh, I'm totally with you. I'm an avid online gambler, and I'm totally against this bill. I was just saying that I've known plenty of people my age (20s) who have lost a lot of money on online gambling. They should be free to lose all their money, though - screw this bs legislation.

This bill is less about the legality or morality of gambling than the old boys who control the horse races, sports gambling, casinos and lottery. If people want to gamble away their savings, there'll always be outlets. Do not mistake this for a morality check because this is solely about big interest groups and the clients they represent.

Is this moral conservatism run amuck or what?

I know a lot of repubs that like poker, t*tties, and beer ~ why the hell is one small percentage of the party (religious right) dominating the party?

    Oh man, this is terrible.

I love internet gambling and the poker "phenomenon" in general...it keeps the drunk guys at home and leaves the drunk bar sluts for me and my friends to hang out with.

    DAMN YOU CONGRESS!!!!

I think this is crazy and I am amazed that it passed.

What's ridiculous is that they specifically exempted horse racing bets from this ban.

This type of bill has passed Congress BEFORE and was expected to pass by insiders. If you look at the stocks of the big online gaming sites internationally, it actually WENT UP the day the bill passed due to this reason.

The issue now is for it to pass the Senate which in most minds will not happen. Legal experts believe that they will need to add this to another bill to have a chance or figure out a way to treat the "carve outs" (e.g. horse racing etc.) and if this bill is NOT approved by Senate THIS year, the entire process starts over again from scratch. Meaning, congress needs to approve again.

For those of you that play online, I think you are in fine shape.

    Good Luck
