who would want an overpayed sack of crap? i dont mean to be rude, cato is a good defensive player, but his offense is really terrible. he doesnt know how to make shots. all the shots he had was from alley-oops from who-ever and 2nd chances. he is a good rebounder both offensively and defensively, but indy will benamed the most dumbest team with that trade. lol.
Despite my board name, I don't see why anyone would trade for Rice other than to give us a longer term contract on an older player at about the same $$$ (Karl Malone sign & trade!#@*)
WORD ! To see the " My Crap for your Superstar" trade idea coming from such a senior member........ This forum is a great place to learn many facet of NBA bussiness, yet some ignorants still roam here and there
I dont think anyone proposed Cato for O'Neal straight up. I assume they meant he'd be a nice part of a package. I disagree with that anyway. They have Brad Miller, who is AT LEAST equivalent to Cato. He makes less money, is a better offensive player, and has been with that team for a while.
If Jermaine Oneal comes to Houston and does a S&T he'll be giving something back to Indy instead of just signing with SA and Indy gets nothing. In the article it says Oneal does not dislike Indy at all and probably would not want to just leave Indy without them getting anything for him.
Jermaine O'Neal would be a monsterous upgrade in talent, but such a sign and trade would be complicated to pull off. O'Neal made $6.9 million this year, meaning that if he got the max contract to which he is entitled starting at $10 million per year, this would be over a 20% raise and would make him a base year compensation player. As such, his cap value would be $6.9 million, meaning Houston would have to send out salaries within 15% of $10 million, but Indiana could only receive $6.9 million in return. Unless O'Neal would consent to only a $8.3 million first year deal (which is less than San Antonio could offer), there would have to be a third team involved that is under the cap to take on a $2-$3 million player, or there has to be a lot more players involved to get the salaries with 15%. To cover a $3 million gap between the $10 million salary Houston is receiving and the $6.9 million Indiana can receive in return for O'Neal, this would mean that Houston would have to receive at least $20 million in salaries in the deal. As such, you are looking at a multi-player deal. Perhaps it can still happen if we send Rice, MoT, Moochie and Griffin to Indiana in return for O'Neal, Croshere and another player, but it would nonetheless be very complicated (not to mention the difficulty of talking Indiana into taking MoT and Moochie's contracts, although taking Croshere's horrendous deal off their hands might be enough). Or perhaps we throw in Mobley and Indiana throws in Tinsley. In reality, Indiana only talks to us if O'Neal tells them he is leaving for San Antonio if they don't do a deal with us.
Yea thats what i meant, Cato and some players such as mobley and maybe griff or even rice with his contract but not straight up. but yea yall are right.. i dont think they would like his contract. but cato seems like he could be a beast in the east so you never know.
O'neal wont be a Rocket! We already have a Griffin whos gonna be him in few years. Maybe! ----------------------------------------------------------- <img src="http://www.movieprop.com/tvandmovie/reviews/matrixneo2.jpg">
How about SA offering 12mill per yr just cause. On top of that, they can bring back the entire nucleus of Parker,Duncan,Manu,Jackson, and Rose. To top that off, they would still have enough to add another player at about 6mill per for a team in the WCF. Other than him joining the Spurs, his best option is staying in Indy.
