Unwillingness to get Yao the ball? Did you watch the games? Yao was getting fronted ALOT by the Blazers. In fact, through the first 3 games he only took 22 shots. Sorry, but the Blazers fronting defense was to blame, not Ron.

Let's look at this closer. Scola was getting killed when he was on the floor. Yao only played 20-21 minutes through the first 3 quarters of that game because he picked up his 4th foul with 6:50 left in the third and didn't come back in until 10:35 left in the 4th. According to the stats Brooks shot well, but 11 of those points came off 3 3-pointers and a layup he made in the final 30 seconds after coughing the ball up twice when we had a 1 point lead (90-91). Those turnovers were a key to the Blazers taking and extending the lead to 8.

Now let's focus on Ron who was expending his energy chasing Roy around most of the night. I'm not excusing taking 20 shots and only making 8, but again, you have to take all of this into consideration.

Despite him going 3/8? I find it funny you neglected to mention Brooks was 3-11 and Yao was 2-7 in that game. Let's crucify them both too.

Sure, he didn't shoot well, but he also held Roy to .333 shooting in that game.

Yep, despite 5-20 he was doing other things. The Rockets were +5 with Artest and +5 with Yao, which shows that while Artest was on the floor, the team was winning. The next closest was Scola at +3 and Lowry at +1.

This was the also the first game where Yao was going at the Blazers bigmen and who was getting him the ball? Ron Artest.....on 5 of Yao's 7 buckets.

Also, let's not overlook Brooks' 1-5 and only 2 assists.

I'll say this was Artest's worst game of the series. However once again, you are overlooking Brooks' 6-20 and 1-8 from 3-point range.

If you look simply at shooting percentages, yes he only had those 2 good games, but he did alot of little things to help the Rockets win that series that people are clearly overlooking. I honestly do not believe we beat Portland without him.

As for the Lakers series, we lost that when Yao went down. Artest was shooting 50% overall and 43% from behind the arc through the first 3 games, all of which Yao played in.
