LOL....you beat me to it... After all didn't we just see T-Mac do the unthinkable against San Antonio? True competiors don't want to be taken out they want to finish what they started.
I really do not understond why Sura was left in... We had a 20+ point win. Sura and T Mac should have been taken out to minimize the odds of injury. This would have been the responsible thing to do. I am not being Hypercritical-just practical. We have so little depth of talent, why take a chance?????? I can accept this gentleman as our coach.... Make this easier to deal with....
We all want the win. Sometimes you need to take the long view. We need players, healthy, ready, and hopefully fresh, for the playoffs. I mentioned this, as did others, in the game thread. JVG's substitution patterns baffle me as well. You have to cut down Tracy's minutes. Otherwise, you take a chance of him having a flareup of his back, which he's starting to have. And if you don't want to have Sura's knee worked on, for which an argument could be made, and has, that getting it worked on now, so he could be healthy for the playoffs, would be the smart thing, then you have to cut down on his minutes. Why not do it when your team has a big lead? And who makes those decisions? Not the player, no matter who he is. It's the coach. It's on his head. We'll see what happens. Keep GARM Readable!!
Not sure about tmac, but for Sura, he will be traded eventually, I think. It is good to boost his trade value. Did trade of JJ surprise you?
Maybe the final quarter of the Philly game isn't the greatest example, but I can't really blame the coach for wanting to play Ryan Bowen and Rod Strickland as little as possible. I think the "mystery" is as simple as that.
yea but bowen and strickland are only an injury away from starting (as scary as that seems) and barret is an injury away from jumping back into the rotation so they all need the game time experience. whats a better time than when youre up by 20?? i understand that jvg might be worried about losing a lead but if your by 20 then u take out ur starters...if the other team goes on a 6-0 or 8-0 run then you bring back your starting five. even if you have lost your momentum, if youre still up by double digits the game is still in your hands.
we have to remember when we've taken out our starters in previous games w/ nice leads the other team would make a charge and close the gap within minutes. Then JVG had to scramble to get his starters back in to maintain the lead which probably left a bad taste in alot of peoples mouths. 20 point lead doesnt seem big enough with our group. I think if JVG had a 40 point lead all the starters would have been resting. J
