Yea I'm pissed the Bulls did not beat us by 20. Not. :D

Surely the coach could have subbed Mutombo for Yao to counter the fronting strategies!?! I thought Adelman was one of the more creative coaches out there.

I'm with Clutch on this. Sh#t happens, shrug your shoulders and keep working.

Memo to Les and Daryl, next time Phil Jackson is on the market, go grab him! :p

I wonder if anyone has the balls to give this thread a one-star rating....

    I am just wondering, Clutch!

Why can't they surprise their opponent by just making a simple bounce pass to Yao when he first post up instead of going through all these bullshyt screening for Yao to get him open. I mean seriously, PASS IT TO Yao when his man did not expect him to post up. When you start doing all this bullshyt screening, his man know that they're trying to post Yao up and start fronting him. Why not be more creative and have more than one play run for Yao in the post?? Stupid f8*king coaching!!

I'll say one thing that probably isn't a kneejerk:
If anything is going wrong way, Artest goes beserk and makes it "no way" way.

Wish it had been Von Wafer taking the last shot.

absolutely hate it when Rockets lose especially when they have a big lead in the 4th quarter, perhaps its due to the high expectation of a win only to watch them falter and lose.

but then, lets be positive guys, perhaps this loss will prove more valuable than a win? perhaps this loss will help us learn to play better defense in the 4th quarter and win a game that means more, like a playoff game.

This is quite possibly the most awesome thread of all time. Well the first post was good anyways.

    FIRE ADELMAN!

He cannot close games. He totally gassed Yao in the first part of the game, then Yao had nothing down the stretch!

Large leads ALWAYS scare me with the Rockets.

I literally felt like vomiting after the game.

WHen we were up 17, we should have put fresh guys in to ride the game out:

Deke - for rebounding and D
    Barry - SHooting
    Wafer - creative offense
    Hayes - Defnese rebounding
    Lowry - D and drive

If they front, they should bring Yao up to the high post.

If Rafer Alston had that kind of meltdown performance I guarantee Clutch would not have said 'One-Star Knee-Jerk Reaction'

Brooks gives him a tingly feeling up his leg.

Quoted for truth, fronting Yao is deadly for the Rockets.

Normally fronting is easily beaten because you simply lead your big man, Yao in this case to the basket with a lob pass over the fronting defenders arm; however, it is my belief that Yao is simply not athletic enough or mobile enough to catch the pass.

I have to believe the Rockets have worked with Yao on catching these passes in practice and poor results are the reason the passes are not even attempted in the game.

Yao's inability to catch the lob pass when fronted is the sole reason we lost the game last night and the entire reason why an offense centered around Yao will never win in the playoffs. We had about a six minute stretch in the 4th quarter where Yao was fronted and we had absolutely no answer other than shot clock beating Ron Artest heaved three's which probably are going to be good only 10 percent of the time.

You can not be a dominate player in this league when you are so easily rendered completely ineffective; with that said, if the Rockets aren't or haven't in the past practiced beating the fronting defense on Yao then they don't deserve to be coaching.

Myself being just a fan and seeing this leads me to believe they have worked on it with Yao and just don't have an answer for beating it.

You also have to believe they have worked as a team on different solutions to beat the fronting other than the lop.

I know you don't like Yao. Go read the other thread and see how many possible options they would have.

They just didn't execute down the stretch. I put the blame on Brooks and Artest at the end (and Adelman for not pulling Brooks out and putting Lowry in).

i can't believe everybody is goign to blame Yao again for the lost.

Everytime we win or lose somebody has to blame Yao for something. Nobody is satisfied until he gets a 100pt game -.-

BS, when your best player is so easily rendered completely ineffective, it effectively dissolves the rest of the team into bunch of a bunch of chikens running around with their heads cut off. Look around the league and name me one other dominant post player who can't deal with fronting defense, name just one. He is so one dimensional that it's funny, why teams don't run a barrage of guys all fronting Yao is beyond me, he simply has no answer to it.
