Gotta disagree with the OP tonight. No flops were rewarded. Thats a big plus. Course, the Jazz only flopped a few times, and a call as made on Kirelenko was he flopped when he knew Scola was going to get the ball before he was. Only issue I had was Artest had zero FTs and he was attacking the rim a lot. He probably missed 10 of his 22 going at least to the bucket, if not right at the rim. Reminded me of McGrady early on in last years play-off series. He finally started getting the calls as the series went on, but it didnt really help much. It was fair both ways, but terribly inconsistent. One time they call a questionable foul against the Jazz when Battier looked to have the rebound secured. Then they dont give Ron or Scola a call when he is hammered. They call a touch foul on the Rockets when the Jazz score a layup, but they let the Rockets get away with some more physical stuff down low. They missed a travel on Yao, but they also missed the foul before that so I guess its just a "let it go" thing.
You are an idiot. I don't even want to rate this thread because there is no zero stars. Hey Clutch, can you make it so there is a zero star vote somehow? Thanks.
Officiating was fine. Shots just weren't falling. You can't win with a 34.8% FG percentage and spotty transition defense.
actually this game was quite officiated well, they didnt call much flops by the j*zz...we just shot poorly and had bad execution and we didnt go to scola or yao...and artest keeps on doing his thing that upsets me
Yet there we were at 86-82 with a few minutes left shooting that horrible 35% from the field. We aint that far off folks.
I don't know so much Buc. We shoot bad b/c we take bad shots or have bad possessions. Jazz just missed shots they usually make. Well, that's my take at least.
Artest was 5 for 22 and was consistently taking over the offense with stupid isolation plays trying to draw a foul. I'm not gonna say one was worst than the other, everyone but Aaron (kinda, his shots were falling, but he was taking shots I wouldn't normally want him to) and Scola sucked. Oh and Battier. Almost forgot. He is out of his slump in a BIG way. That's like 5 consecutive relaly good games by him offensively and defensively.
Yao had an average to below average game. But Lowry probably had his worst game of the Rockets, on the heels of the other game in Utah which was one of his best. Wafer made some dumb plays too, but at least he hit a couple shots early on when we neede them. Barry missed wide open looks that Sloan was groaning on every time he shot the ball.
terrible thread, officiating was more than fair, and could be argued that we had more calls than them, us not playing like a team is why we lost plain and simple.
The more the team blames it on the referreeing the more we let them get in our heads. Right now they have the psychological advantage on us, and the only way to get around that is to 1.) train our players to adopt a new mindset regarding playing them or 2.) get new players. So far you look at Morey's moves and they have definitely been made with the Jazz in mind. Lowry is a more physical point guard in the Deron Williams mode, and he should be playing a lot more than Brooks in these games even though he sucked pretty bad in the minutes he was out there tonight. Secondly, if you ask Jazz fans who on the Rockets they "hate" the most (hate as in fear), it will probably be Landry. We didn't have him tonight and we needed him more than ever. He is the one guy who won't get b!tched around in the paint like some Nancy. He pissed off Boozer to the point where Boozer knocked his teeth out with an elbow in Game 3. Players like Landry, Lowry, and maybe White next year are going to be the kinds of players that put the fear of the Rockets back in the hearts of the Jazz.
Uh...the team didnt say anything about the refs. One fan whined about it, and just about every response was in disagreement regarding that. Granted, the Jazz didnt do much of any flopping tonight. I think they actually played a bit better because of it. Seen that happen to Dirk so many times, quit trying to draw the foul, and just make the shot.
The jazz actually didn't flop too much tonight and the refs let us play. We had our shot and fell apart when it counted. It seemed like they scored on every single one of our numerous turnovers. Don't get me started on our atrocious paint and transition defense.
this was one of the best officiated jazz games i've ever seen. like will said, if the jazz aren't getting away with stuff, like they weren't tonight, then we have a decent shot should we match up.
There were terrible calls last play-off series and we managed to take 2 of the 6 without Yao, one in Utah, and without our starting PG in 2 and a half of the losses. If you were to design a team around beating the Rockets with Yao, it would be similar to the Jazz. Yet the team is good enough to compete hard to the end. This game reminded me of the road games back in the 06-07 play-off series where the Rockets would play close for a half, and then wilt in the 3rd quarter. Well, this team battled back after falling behind double digits in the 2nd half. I am not scared of the Jazz.
im kinda shocked everyone thought it was a fairly officiated game... Jazz didnt flop but they were hacking all over the place.. in the 4th they were getting touch fouls.. we didnt get any of those touch fouls.. Artest was chucking a bit but he was also going inside and got no fouls 0 ft attempts! Wafer, Lowry, Scola were getting thrown all over the place.. we got 5 offensive rebounds at one point and couldn't get a foul call.. I didn't tally all the bad calls but the game wasnt as fair as everyone is making it out to be.. just because they didn't flop doesn't mean they were calling it close.. I dont want to face the jazz in he first round because the refs let them get away with stuff against us that they wouldn't let them pull on say the lakers or celtics and cavs I hope someone dvr 'd the game and points this fact out.. you guys need to watch it again look at our rebounds for goodness sake and then the ft disparity...
stop blaming the officials, they're not as kind as tmac. I mean our words against the refs may make stern send les a bill that fines him millions of dollars, which is just like stabbing him with a knife as long as 5 feet.
