    True, Brooks is retired.

Wait, you were writing about the league at that time? Links to some of those articles please, because as someone that was living in Austin and subjected to too many Spurs games, he was not at the high post, and did not score on high post jumpers as much as put backs, and below ft line bank shots.

Agree that Robinson was one of the main focuses, but if you recall, Popovich lauded Dave for taking a backseat to Tim, and allowing the team to excel.

Aaron Brooks? Why feel sorry about him, you are free to have an opinion KD, I have always liked you even before you were writing your blog, and actually getting paid, you forget, I was around when you were finally getting offers to write and get paid for it.

And IIRC, that was in the 2000s you are not that old my man.....

I respect that you are a basketball junkie, and your opinion, but that is all it is...an opinion.

griffin is a once in a decade player. as far as comparing him to TD... it was the spurs with DRob. they were a top tier team before injuries and tanking to get TD. Griffin is on the clippers.. He has noone to take the pressure off of him. That said, TD was phenomenal and so is Griffin but they are different players. Griffin is more Kemp/Barkley than TD. i have no doubt that Griffin would be successful in the 80's and 90's. guy isnt soft at all. that's a rarity these days.

ill give duncan the clutch performer, but defender i wouldnt say its obvious which way.

besides the 95 playoffs, was there any other occasion where hakeem and david battled and one of them was the obvious better player?

I never said Griffin is as good as Duncan in my original post. I just wanted to raise the fact that he is having an incredible statistical season so far. Obviously basketball is more than just numbers as 33% if the game cannot or isnt measured like a lot of stuff on defense. I just didn't want his numbers to go unnoticed. Sometimes you gotta step back and put his roockie performace in to perspective.

As I'm typing this, Griffin is having another great performance agains the Heat. 15, 6, and 4 assits near the half.

The thing most people don't know about Griffin is how good of a passer he is. He has excellent poise for a big man. I wouldn't be surprised to see him average 7+ assists in his prime.

    more like....[IMG]

people are confusing raw talent and athleticism vs skill and understanding. Duncan was much more wise and polished in his skill set in his rookie year.

Griffin can get there but i think people forget how polished duncan was as a rookie.

Well, Griffin is already the best or second-best passing big as a rookie. His handles are very solid. He has a decent jumper. His rebounding fundamentals are elite. He needs to work on his post game (really just has two moves, which is still one more than Dwight Howard) and his defense.

I think people see a few spectacular highlights and assume that Griffin is "all show, no skill". I've been watching basketball a long time and IMO Griffin is the most polished rookie, skill wise, since Duncan, and it's close-- and yes, that includes LeBron. My only real concern about Griff is that he'll injure himself.

I would rather have Griffin, at the end of his career, I think he will be the best PF to have ever played the game.

The Spurs won 59 games the year before Robinson got hurt.

They won 60+ the year before that.

You mean to tell me that If you put Blake Griffin on a team like say...Chicago, Dallas or even here if we decided to tank when Yao was gone he wouldn't look like Tim did surrounded by great Vets and HOFers he wouldn't look just as good if not better than Tim did?

    Give me a break.
