kobe is great and mj was great the main difference is that when i watch kobe i dont get that same feeling i got from watching jordan, when you watched jordan you knew that he was not going to lose, he was just unstoppable, kobes containable i think what really makes the case for kobe being the goat is that nowadays the level of competition to me atleast is far better than it was in the 90's i mean now you pretty much need 3 stars to win maybe its me but its just something ive noticed
kobe isn't even better than several of his peers. duncan and shaq are above him. nash has two mvps. wade had just as big if not bigger impact in the playoffs 2 years ago when people were saying he was the best guard. people were saying james was the best last finals. it's basically what have you done for me lately. kobe was more dominant 2 years ago but had no help. now he has more help and that puts him on par with jordan? goofy rationale. myopia reigns when it comes to kobe. remember that jordan had 6 finals mvps. kobe has none. none. when jordan played it felt like he would win evry series. even if the bulls were evenly matched he would win through sheer greatness. kobe shows great ability but lacks the same intimidation/mystique/aura.
I was going to stay out of this lunacy until this village idiot (KBBL#1) brought my name up. I am sorry, but I find this a bizarre argument (to use kind words). Chasing the perceptions others have of you (history) doesn't make you great, having a relentless passion to carry your team to new heights and win games/series at all costs does. That is what makes Jordan great, or Tom Brady. They don't think about history, they just try to win every game. (and if Brady did think about history this year instead of just winning each game, playing each play the best he can--it bit him) Kobe has yet to prove he is a "level beyond" Lebron or (fully healthy) Wade. The other players, no question. Just as the years before Kobe might have been the best player but didn't get the MVP, the same can be said for Lebron this year. Let's at least see if Kobe can nearly defeat the Celts as Lebron almost did, with a much worse supporting cast, before saying one is a level above. If you are a fan of philanderers (at best, possibly a rapist), pompass asses, and me 1st basketball (though he seems to have grown a bit in the last 2 areas, I grant you), yes, I see your point. I wasn't a fan of by far the GOAT who didn't play center, MJ of course, either. But got to be fair to his credentials, in which Kobe would need about 4 other season like this one (if he can finish it off with a ring) to enter the argument as an equal.
until kobe wins another title, he's more comparable to Pippen than Jordan. Both 2nd best players on title teams. It's true that Shaq probably wouldn't have won w/o Kobe, but Jordan probably wouldn't have won w/o Pippen either. Kobe, like Pippen, was undoubtedly 2nd fiddle and will be until he wins SIX TITLES as the BEST PLAYER on those title teams.
The sentence stays the same, but the key players just get changed. Wait til the LeBron one in 8 years.
Compared to Lebron, Kobe is a better defender and has a better offensive game (including better range & a post game). Better offense & better defense = level beyond.
Lebron is a much better rebounder, assist man, and is tied or superior a diverse range of metrics of efficiency (shooting efficiency, a/to, +/-, on court/off). Not to mentioned this year Lebron was a superior scorer, and much superior in the 4th quarter. While it is little debate Kobe's team is better, there is much debate who is the better player. Unless you believe in discounting all objective statistics of player performance, and simply rely on opinion and conjucture. And don't they say something about opinions being like one particular part of the body?
lol so expected from the lebron homer... just says the same thing over and over again... lebron is not even close to kobe's level of playing if u bother to watch some games
