Yea I don't know, too many posts on this site to keep track of. I'm probably wrong now that I think about it.
Naw if you are going to be annoying and split hairs he said "be a well above average point guard in the NBA next season" not starting point guard. And it's easy to justify because he said he "believes" so. He can easily prove he believes so. It seems your intent is more to state that you don't think he's going to be an above average starting point guard. Which is fine. Just say it that way. Personally I don't even know that Lin is going to be a "starting point guard" at all. I think he could come off the bench and be a impactful potential asset, especially in the case Morey wants to try to rebrand him to move him. They guy can score it would be the smart money move if he doesn't come along in other areas. In any case I'm guessing Lin will be traded unless he has a breakout year. His main strength is his creativity and superior first step compared to "most starting point guards" which actually can be quantified if need be looking at his combine shuttle and 1/4 court. His weaknesses are the fact that he's actually more of a combo guard, he can't shoot, and that he is out of control a significant portion of the time. Yeah bet that ain't been said a thousand times on here right? Considering the alternatives, others on the roster look to be lateral or backward moves despite the fan wars here. Assuming this thing with Dwight goes to fruition the full 4 years, the point guard of the future probably is just a glint in Morey's eye and ain't even on the roster yet. Only a fool would dismiss the chance that Lin could potentially contribute as a key piece of a championship run given Linsanity but there's also a good chance that in couple of years everyone but Harden and Howard could be moved for Morey to get to that summit.
You know Thadeus this post is certainly not the typical 100 word Lin post. I did put effort and thought into it. And even though I have 2500+ posts I have not posted ANYTHING about Lin. I think I deserve a little slack here.
Yeah. So you two have even less basketball knowledge because you did not read it. Good for you. Ignorant is as ignorant does (to paraphrase a Forest Gump line). More inane and ignorant posters. Just what CF needs.
Don't sweat it, I agree with a lot of what you wrote. Not that no one cares but I been gone overseas for a while and haven't posted on here for a minute. It's definitely different around here, even previously normal posters are trolls. I just been posting some stuff laughing at guys on both sides on these threads but I have no issue with what you posted. I mean you knew you were going to get hate rite? Keep on keepin on
Good post, people don't seem to understand but I truly believed Jeremy Lin actually performed better to my expectations for someone who is starting for his first full season, coming off a knee surgery as well as having to play alongside a ball-dominant star James Harden. 13/6 is definitely good numbers especially seeing as Lin still has time to become better and become more integrated into the Rockets basketball system. People say that Lin is one of the worst starting point guards only think so due to statistics, indeed Lin's statline is far from what he had done during Linsanity, however I believe he has done a very good job last year and has indeed helped this Rockets team as well as complement Harden to his best of abilities. Lin have came off with bad performances during the playoffs which may have of changed the final impression of Lin for the season for many folks in particular from this board, but give him time to improve and see what happens next season.
Yes I did know what I was getting into starting that thread. That is why I spent 2 hours on 13 bullet points. I thought it needed to be said so I posted it. There is little reasoning behind the vast majority of Lin posts. I thought I would inject a little overall analysis into the theater. People are not disagreeing about any of my bullet points. They are just flaming.
OK then. While we're asking each other for things: Don't pretend to be the good guy here when you're obviously emotional on this issue for some reason. I honestly didn't even consider that perspective and was just talking very matter-of-factly. If he's better than most bench guards... what's the merit in that? That's not the message I got from his original post, and I'm sure he can clarify what he meant without you and me going on a tangent.
I don't think you have to worry about the fans being patient... More so McHale and Morey. They may not feel the same as you. McHale had a short leash on Lin last year and I expect him to have an even tighter grip on that leash this year. Lin is a young point guard that still needs time to develop. Although the Rockets are paying him at a high price his marketing ability makes up for that as far as Alexander's pockets are concerned but doesn't help the team as far as the cap figure is concerned. And he may not get traded and stay here for the next two years but eventually I think he will end up backing up Harden instead of playing next to him. Right now he is not the clear cut best option to start with Harden.
So are you mad? I ain't mad and I am far from emotional, if feel like you want do this and talk down to me then I ain't afraid of that either but you might not like it. You tell me how it's going to go. You need to get hurt feelings with yet another poster or we gonna squash this?
You did notice that I posted everything as my personal opinion didn't you? It is just one fans take on Lin. You disagreed with a single point out of the 12 points in the post. I am good with that. There is certainly merit in your criticism. But to balance that out you have to look at the last 2 months of his season, minus of course his playoff performance after the injury. Integrating into a new system and playing next to a super star like Harden does take time.
