There is nothing of the sort. Contributors have been banned here numerous times, some of them more than once, due to being allowed back by Clutch, and then screwing up again. Honestly, where do you guys come up with this stuff?
Pretty racist thing to say. What if someone said all these little black kids fighting for Brandon Jennings....
The problem with making Lin into Battier is that Battier played that role because that was the role that accommodated his skill set best. The strongest aspect of Lin's game is his ability to get in the paint. Trying to make him primarily be a spot shooter seems crazy when he's still young and quick
Lin's strongest bball abilities in equal doses are his court vision and his tremendous feel for the game (in terms of utilizing his teammates' skills and breaking down the defense of the other team). They are the reasons behind Linsanity when he was in New York last year and he was able to show them in a few games this year with the Rockets. But the read and react Princeton like offense that the Rockets run does not depend on his skill sets or for that matter any pg's skill set that much. In addition, he does not even get to play pg that much because the best player on the team is a ball dominant, play making, very efficient SG in Harden (that is a very good thing because you don't want the opposing team's defense to be able to zero in on one person.) To do well and contribute more to this team, I agree with many posters that it is important for Lin to become a better more consistent shooter and also to be able to slash and cut; in other words, to become a more rounded player. As far as his handles go, they are fine. His turnovers are mostly due to him trying to get a home run as McHale has pointed out. As he gains more experiences and gets more familiar with this team, and especially with Dwight in the center, Lin will continue to cut down on his TO's and so will Harden.
Honestly Deck I have no expectations. I am satisfied posting what I think is a rational take. I just try not to suck. What everyone else does is up to them.
Neither statement is racist. It might be stereo-typing, but it isn't racism. It's just a reall sad state of affairs with people slinging unwarranted accusations of racism. I wonder if some people really know what racism is, because it sure isn't intimating that a bunch kids of one race would be cheering for someone who looks like or represents them.
That's why I honestly think there's merit to the 6th man idea. It would allow Lin to play to his strengths instead of trying to repackage his game. It's why Crawford and Manu come off the bench. Much like those to teams with Parker and Paul, the Rockets are better off with the ball in Harden's hands. Plus, it would allow Harden to rest more and hope keep him fresh for the end of the season and Playoff run. To me, it's win-win for everyone. I also think it's a role Jeremy would embrace.
But have u heard the 10000 hour rule? 10k hours to be a master. Lins so young in terms of playing experience. It's to early to say repackage his game. Damn it king1 really didn't wanna have to talk about he who must not be named
Good lord. I don't know why I have to keep saying it, but racism has several definitions, the belief that all or most members of a group share a characteristic (i.e. stereotyping), being one of them. Pretty much any reputable dictionary will have this as part of the definition or as a separate definition. Thus, both statements are racist. It's simply a matter of how one responds; ignoring it or pointing it out.
for once, king 1 makes a solid point and argument on this subject. If Harden and manu can come off the bench, lin should not be above it. I'd like to see him play with all that freedom as a sixth man. some birds weren't meant to be caged. However, without a lin/lowry/dragic, I labeled them the trinity before lin was even popular, I can see a lot stickiness in the offense with anyone else directing traffic. Harden isn't a pg. sure, the pick and roll will be deadly, but what about finding a cutting chandler? finding the man with the best shot available or making the extra pass to get another pass that finds its way to the basket for freebies. Now with howard on board, sticky balls should be even more unacceptable. ball movement!
Harden has really good court vision and I think he'll be able to find the cutting Parsons and make the extra pass. Especially with D12 in the fold. Harden isn't a selfish player and not a guy who relishes the spotlight. That's a big part of why Dwight's here. I think last year he put the team on his shoulders because he felt he had to. While we scored a lot, he was really our only go to guy. You're going to see team ball this year. These guys like each other and Morey has done a great job of putting a team together that caters to both Harden and D12's strengths. It's why the Canaan pick really intrigues me. I know he's a second rounder but that's where Morey has excelled and all the film on him suggests he could really thrive here. Realistically, unless we're adding a top flight All-Star PG then it's not a position of extreme importance. Harden gives us that luxury. With Lin, it just makes too much sense not to give the 6th man role a shot. I don't expect that to happen to start the season, but I think it's best for the team. Imagine if he could give us 13-15 ppg off the bench (which he's already shown he is more then capable of)? We'd be a very tough team to beat as he's going to be better then most of the guys guarding him when the lineups change. His role this year isn't going to really change in the starting lineup. Howard is going to get his touches in the post and when he's double teamed he'll be looking to kick the ball out to the perimeter. Harden is going to play his game and the rest of the guys will fall in line.
I think a player through hard work and accepting their role can be better despite the numbers. When kenny smith had his show on sirius, he said many times that in sacramento those were hard 17pts,but with hakeem, those were easy 13ppg. This can be true for Lin also. Kenny went from a non threat at the 3pt line, but dale ellis taught him how to shoot 3s. He became deadly as a 3pt with the rockets and a very good pg in transition. He's not a lost cause right now,but the rockets are in position right now to win a ring. They just need him to be consistent on a night to night basis. What we do know with mchale is the leash isn't long enough forsome posters on this board.
One thing about Harden, he is such a killer attack stud, that he tends to take really ridiculously difficult shots. He is famously ninja with those on the halftime buzzer. But I would love for him to tone down on those cause it usually it backfires on him during crunch time on the 4th. Poor Lin is going to get rotated with Asik. Hope he gets some Rocket/Superman love.
You're right. The definition of racism (according to Clutchfans) is: any statement which identifies the race of a player. (Overtly, implicitly... hypothetically? You name it). I really don't see why it matters to anyone. The Rockets are a very multinational team with good players from various backgrounds. Why didn't we all spend time arguing about Delfino's heritage?
