What's your personal impression of the following data? Omri Casspi - is the 6th quality player in all the NBA as for +/- points differential per 36 min. alongside, Paul George, Hibbert, Bellineli, Ginobili. Omri Casspi - If i'm not wrong, is the No.1 second unit player in the NBA (coming from the bench), regarding +/- points differential. Omri Casspi - is the best +/- points differential player among all the Houston Rockets players(by far). Take in mind that this is just an unbelievable data, for a second unit player. All in all, he is playing just great in every category coming from the bench. So what does it say about the team defense with Casspi? about offense with him? Maybe the facts show that he is much much better all around player for the Rockets, than one may think, so the team with him, is a top notch team and without team much much lesser? Does his influence on this team is that big, as the numerical facts show? Is it his game intelligence, like other important players as Ginobili bring from europe and now from Israel? Or is it just a "fata morgana"? Yet again against the Jazz, Casspi made the difference, regarding points differential. with him, it's just another W. So what are your thoughts, fellas?
Casspi plays the same role as Delfino last year and if I remember correctly Delfino also had an excellent +/- point differential. Both players excel in this system because their roles are playing as undersized stretch 4s with the ability to shoot the 3 or drive by PFs that are not as quick as they are. Their ability to stretch the floor and provide spacing really opens up the offense for other players on the team. I don't think they would be as effective playing their natural position of SF playing in a different system.
Yes, Casspi has played his role very well. And yes, Delfino also had a stratospheric +/- last year. So we know that stretch four lineups, when they have been used by the Rockets, have been very effective. It raises some interesting questions. Have these stretch four lineups been equally successful against the first units of other teams, or are they only successful against the backups? How have they worked against teams with fours that are strong post players? These are probably questions the front office is considering as it looks to trade Asik.
I couldn't care less of his contract. I think this topic and data, is way too influential and important for the Rockets success, if one really care about, than OC financials. That's my point of view.
The only thing I could think watching him last night, pretty much the same as all season long, is 'Morey did it again'. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, thought Casspi could be this productive. He can shoot surprisingly well, and his motor is like it's stuck to the floor all the time. McHale must love having this guy around. I was wondering last night about just how he compares to Delfino from last year - as much good as Delfino did, something tells me that Casspi is even better.
It has proven to be successful last year when as they used it to close out games. And this despite Delfino really being a true 3 rather than a tweener. The problem is that there's a ton of wear and tear over the course of the season when you have guys like Casspi, Delfino, Parsons matchup against true PFs. The issue with this lineup has always been more about sustainability than quality.
the problem is that when is hot, he doesn't take too many shots. he can shoot 5-7 or 6-8 in 2 quarters and, than he doesn't even try to shoot for the rest of the game.
I don't necessarily agree with this - if anything, I think he could sometimes be a slight bit more gun-shy.. he's a little quick on the trigger for my tastes sometimes. Do you have any stats to confirm what you are saying here?
Is it just me or does it seem like Harden and Casspi argue a lot on the floor? A couple of games ago you could hear pretty clearly on the telecast Harden yelling at Casspi "call out the pick. say something man." And Casspi just kind of shrugged his shoulders. Last night, there was a miscommunication between the two (maybe on the steal+dunk), Casspi put his hand out to slap five with Harden and Harden saw it and then ignored him
no actuall stats, just from following him play in the nba for the last 4.5 years. I can be wrong about it, but he rarly shoots more than 10 shots, even if he's 8-8 he won't try to shoot more. that's why even when he's really hot he's around 20 points and not 30.
Sounds like he's just basing this off of last nights game when Worrell and Calvin Murphy were urging them to get him more shots... which was true last night with the way the rest of the team was playing. Usually, IMO, he's pretty much a gun slinger out there in a good way. Doesn't really force as much up as Delfino, but if he's open in any way, there is absolutely no hesitation in his shot... which is great.
it's not just with casspi, I also remember that some players and Lin were arguing. the players need to work on their chemistry and as soon as possible. for the good of the team.
He and Harden need to get on the same page, cuz he won't last long with us if he can't. Once he wants more money, we'll let go of him. We have to pay Parsons. If those two prize themselves out of our market, then I see Morey going for a veteran star.
