DMO is making a huge case for ball movement and quick post moves coming off the pick and roll. I sure hope Dwight is observing this and picks up some ques. This offense is humming right now with DMO and Black better than it ever has with Dwight and Terrence. We are approaching the Spurs ball movement from last season.
I certainly do not disagree. But IMHO the best use of D-Mo is backing up Howard and Jones. 48 minutes of paint protection.
It doesn't really matter who is technically backing up who but you want DMo out there a lot more than Jones unless they are matched up against a really small, athletic PF. I could see a case for a situation like how Harden technically was a bench guy in OKC despite obviously being better than Sefolosha and playing more than him.
I certainly do not disagree. We will see how it plays out. I am not optimistic about Jones. But the good news is that he was on the bench tonight and can obviously walk. I do wish him a speedy recovery.
DMo has figured it out, he looks comfortable out there on both ends, these injuries are a blessing in disguise for our young players. DD
There should be no doubt that if the Rox had handed DMO the starting PF job last year instead of Terrence that what is happening now would have happened then. And we would have won the Portland series with a big man rotation of Dwight, DMo, Asik.
Really, trade Dwight? Because of a stretch of good games from D-Mo? Only on ClutchFans... It's still a legit debate between TJones and Dmo. Don't forget when TJones was playing, we were blowing teams out of the water every night. If he were here and D-Mo was out and no Dwight, I'm sure Jones would also be putting up some big numbers.
Yes, should DMo keep this up (i.e. 20/10/5 every night) I say swap Dwight. Dwight is oldish, injury prone, got legal problems, doesn't play PNR with Harden, doesn't play well w/ Harden period, doesn't pass out, etc. And then there's the D: tonight Marc Gasol was 4-8 for 8 points, 7 boards, 3 assists, 3 turnovers, -21. Yes Dwight might have done as good or better...but, surely not much better. ONLY were DMo to keep this Olajuwan-level play up...I say, yeah. Trade the big guy.
Not really. He had two nice postups at the end of the game, but he was incredibly passive, uninterested and did not really demand the ball all night like he should have. (Coach needs to force more post ups out of him regardless...)
He got a BS call where he made the basket at the end, and should have gone the FT when he got foul in the act of shooting in the post.
