Not sure about milsap over jones, but Howard over Asik has made this team much better.

As far as the improvement when upgrading from one player to another, the style of play, teammates and role have to be considered.

It's basically a backup center for a backup center. Both are capable of starting, but Asik is better than Lopez. Now I understand Asik isn't playing for us at the moment, but there is no reason to improve the Blazers, a team we may meet in the playoffs, for a lesser Robin Lopez.

Lol Millsap is better than Jones.

And He can provide something that Jones can't and that's shooting,he can shoot from mid range or from 3,Jones can't shoot to save his damn life.
And Millsap also has a great contract (2 years 9mil) so we could use him later in a potential KLove deal.

Hawks could use Asik with Horford out but no way are the Hawks giving up a top 6 pick in a loaded draft for Asik. Millsap with 34 points and 15 rebounds today in a win against the Celtics. Doubt they give him unless it's for a nice package and I don't think the Rockets would have anything the Hawks want.

he was doing fine earlier in the season. he's a young guy and has potential.

id rather get back a back up center and a productive wing player.

Yeah, I think the two assets Atlanta has -- Paul Millsap and their own pick (which includes the #1 swap with Brooklyn) -- are likely too rich for Atlanta to give up, so you're probably barking up the right tree there.

Question is -- what does that swap for Pierce do for you? The end game, I mean, has to be a free agent in 2014 or you're playing chicken in that you HAVE to swap Pierce's contract (straight up, without combining him with another contract) by the trade deadline to get who you want. Who could you get in free agency in 2014, or who could you entice with a fat expiring this year and assets that you currently own (Motiejunas, Jones, your first rounder, future first rounders, etc.)? Otherwise, you don't have the extra picks nor the salary piece to make the kind of deal you want by February of '15.

3 to 4 points is pretty significant, and his contract doesn't hamstring us going forward.

If Asik to Boston for Bass + Lee was the best offer Morey had on the table .... maybe he should have taken that offer ?

It's about making the bench better. Either Millsap or Jones can be a major spark off the bench plus another good swing man, back up C would be welcome.

I have a question....I know that a lot of people don't like Rondo at all but why don't you think he would make this team better?

The Rockets have plenty of issues they need to address before they can become true contenders; Perimeter defensive woes, Stagnant offense when the opposing team runs a zone defense, Poor coaching, Harden's hero ball. Lack of interior defense when Howard sits, Lack of effort, Inconsistency from the PF position, Lack of ball movement, and especially Turnovers.

I think getting Rondo helps take care of Harden's hero ball, the lack of ball movement, the turnovers, the stagnant offense, and the perimeter defending. He would help this team immensely. I know he is coming off of an injury and maybe we should wait until the all-star break to see if he is back and playing but personally I think he fits this team extremely well and he is one of the only superstars that I think we can go out and get.
    Aldridge - out
    Love - Out
    Durant - Pipe Dream
Pau - probably about to be traded to Cavs
    Who else is out there?

Because he can't shoot... Which means other teams would be able to sag off of him and clog up the lanes even more. Or his man could double off him every time Howard gets the ball.

I like Rondo as much as the next guy... He's one of the best pure PGs in the league, but he needs the ball in his hands.

And the turnover thing is a wash. He averages just as many turnovers as Harden.

If We got Rondo I'm pretty sure McHale would tell everybody let Rondo have the ball

You have to be stupid to sag of Rondo ....he can find a fart in a tornado! His best attributes are attacking the basket, transition and assist. All of which he does at an all star level.shooting is a skill that can be taught, no matter your age...look at Howard, he has been a lot better shooting free throws as of late.

Actually that argument is a wash since Rondo averages about twice as many assist then Harden.

5.8 assist for Harden last year and 11.2 assist for Rondo last year as well.

Nothing ignorant about it. Throughout this entire "saga", Asik has acted like a five year old who dropped his candy bar.

And the deadline is still over a month away. Jeez, Jan could be a long month.

Asik made it clear from the beginning that he wasn't happy with the situation. The Rockets knew when they signed him that he cared more about playing time than anything else. Morey is the one who hasn't traded Asik yet, and didn't correctly foresee that there would be an issue. You expect Asik to just bend over and take it from Morey like that?

Bend over and take what? Morey paid Asik more than anyone else was willing. Last I heard basketball is a team sport. How about Asik acts like a professional, goes out there and gives it his all? Why is that too much to ask?

Playing hard and showing you are a team guy would make it easier to trade him IMO. Frankly I'm shocked Asik is being such a pansy.
