You're really confused if you think Brooks can't replace Lin.

 

It might be wrong to assume Morey won't trade with a WC team. I'm sure he's thought of the possibility of Asik being traded back West, at the deadline, so why pass up a good deal when doing so accomplishes very little?

 

Anyone that thinks Brooks can replace Lin and be that backup PG that this team needs in highly mistaken. Brooks is a one dimensional player, he doesnt rebound, he is a major liability on defense, need i say more? All he can do is score, and he is pretty inconsistent at that as well, as seen from his stints on various teams and a year long clown show in China. Brooks is a fill in for a couple games at best, and to think he can "take over" Lin's duties is delusional.

 

Hawes and Turner would be rentals, hence they have lower value.

Thadeus Young has a three year contract, so I still don't think he ends up here.

Millsap or Bass seem more likely.

 

Turner plays the same role as Lin covering both PG & SG. Unless the Rockets like his expiring contract I don't see why they trade for him. He's worse than Lin on defense. At least Lin is active. Turner's just too slow to guard on the perimeter.

 

You are thinking too short term here. Thad Young has three years on his deal, yes. But that isnt a deal breaker if you look closely at what would be the case in that senerio. Think about it, alot of big names become FA in the summer of 2015, including Kevin Love, Wade, etc. In that season, Thad will be making $10million dollars, and will be a expiring contact as well, who is to say that he wont be part of that trade package in 2015 for a Superstar? I mean will be a valuable asset, with his skill set and age right?

Brandon bass makes 6.5 this year and 6.9
next year. so we could get rid of him at end of year or at feb I guess as an expiring.

 

Man, Hawes and Turner would do wonders for this bench or ours. Even if they would be rentals for just one year. WE WILL BE IN WIN NOW MODE, and at worst $13 million dollar off the books for next summer.

1. Move lin and asik for expiring decent contracts plus first rounders
2. play the best we can and wait for Lebron

 

We have a short window of winning a championship with Dwight and Harden.

We cant afford to just wait and we are not even sure if we can land Lebron.

Remember, a huge tell will be if any players are held out tonight. Not every likely trade partner has a game today, but a few do, Philly, Milwaukee, and Cleveland.

Yeah but I think we are actually gonna poney up the money to sign Parsons next offseason, and we can't do that with Thad Young taking up $9 mil in cap space. Only way we trade for Thad Young is if Morey is confident he can flip him at the deadline or if he's got a deal to get Lin's salary off the books. I think I'd be very disappointed with Thad Young for Asik. If it's Philly, I'm hoping for Hawes and a pick.

 

Since Hawes is a rental, that seems fair. Or perhaps two second round picks, instead? They have the Nets second round pick, which is going to be very high, obviously.
