Someone hasn't got over it for sure. http://www.nba.com/rockets/roster Asik will be sorely missed. Wait when Howard get into foul trouble early in the games...
uh, you do remember Asik pretty much sat out the whole season once he started whining after we stopped the TT experiment. People have this altered reality that remembers Asik being valued backup to Howard, last regular season. The dude rarely played at all. We don't need him. It's not going to affect us
We would've gotten swept without Asik an he's the only one that gave us a chance in the series. It's partly McHales fault and the emergence of Jones in the regular season which helps us overlook him but make no mistake he will be sorely missed if we do not make further changes and find a serviceable backup.
He did not play in the regular season, pretty much at all. So, he won't be missed. Talk to me next playoffs, if you want to make a case that he was our savior in the two games we won. Let's see if we miss him then, because we surely did not miss him in the regular season. He was actually a bad TT experiment, and a distraction on the bench. We didn't need him last year.
He grabbed 8 boards a game. Pretty good for a guy that did not play much at all. The whole distraction thing is overblown as well... When called upon he actually did his job and tried hard. He also had his teammates backs. You and I have both been around along enough to know there have been far worse distractions. You can barely say Asik was a distraction. Don't be dramatic.
He played in 48 games, averaging about 20 mpg. He pulled down 7.9 rebounds, which amounted to 14.1 per 36 minutes, which was about the same amount as a starter the season before. He did have some impact even in the regular season. And if McHale put him on LMA 2 games sooner, we could have won the Portland series. I think losing Asik is huge. Joey Dorsey is a big drop off.
I'm not sure what Salmons and Rivers you're talking about, but John Salmons and Austin Rivers are two of the worst players in the NBA.
Would you guys please look at the win/lose record of when he didn't play vs when he did. Our record was the same, with or without him on the court. He didn't make a difference.
He made a great difference when Howard missed 11 games at the end of the season. We went 6-5 with Asik starting those games.
good grief. reinvent history much. 6-5 is something great? You don't recall all the posts about "Rest Howard and Harden now" We were resting Howard for many of those games, because Portland was nose-diving and we had the 4th seed locked up, with zero chance to get the third seed. Portland went 9-1 to close the season trying to chase us down, when we had the tie-breaker. We really had the 4th seed that whole time, whether we rested Howard or not. Asik did not get us that 4th seed at the end. This is ridiculous.
