You lied because the fact that you posted implied that your opinion was worth reading - sadly it's not based on the lack of any logical basis. :(

I don't get why field hockey is in the Olympics while floor ball isn't. I'm not a fan of either but to me floor ball seems like a much more popular sport. Maybe it's just the countries I live in.

I think all the different swimming and track events should be included in the Olympics because each race requires different skills. Someone who dominates the 100 may not have the endurance for the longer races...even the 200. And someone who can conserve their energy over eight lengths of the pool might not be that adept in using all their energy in one quick burst. You could see that last night when Coughlin won the Gold in I think it was the 200M backstroke. She was dead the last 15-20 meters but somehow held on for the win.

Plus the swimming and track events are so exciting to watch anyways. And then the relays...again it's a different mindset; and I like the camaraderie and gamesmanship you find in those as well as other team events. Why shouldn't teams be allowed in the Olympics? Who said it was only about individuals. If you got rid of all team events that eliminates probably half the games (no rowing, soccer, basketball, volleyball (indoor and beach), figure skating, luge, boblsed, gymnastics, relay events, etc. I can buy the argument that some team sports do have higher honors in their respective leagues. The best example would be the World Cup or the Grand Slams in tennis, the Tour De France...those are world events. But still, with the exception of World Cup, those events happen every year where the Olympics come only four...so the Olympics would represent a competition that gives you a much slimmer chance to win. You might only 3 or 4 opportunities at most to compete...but in say the Tour De France in that same time span would give you 12 to 16.

In any case, I do think Softball should be removed, at least for now...give the rest of the world a chance to catch up to the USA, because they are just way too dominant. Baseball is different though; it's much more international..but if it doesn't generate much of a following (in the Olympics) then I can see why they removed it.

I wouldn't mind seeing dodgeball...it might not be held in the same high regards as other sports. But it's a niche sport that I think would find much popularity in the Games (like Curling). I wouldn't mind seeing more X-Games events as well. Yeah they have their own events, but the X-Games aren't quite the same level as the Olympics. Snowboarding I think fit really well into the Winter Games...so maybe you could add Skateboard Vert with BMX (which was added this year) to the Summer program.

I do think Golf deserves to be there.

Synchro swimming, rhythmic gymnastics, trampoline, ice dancing are a few that I think should be dropped.

I also wouldn't mind seeing some form of auto racing event...maybe like a Rally event. That would seem to fit the style of the games well.

In regards to the "judging" sports(gymnastics, diving, figure skating, etc.), it's actually a lot more technical than people think. What it usually boils down to is the difficulty of each routine, and how smoothly you perform it. And a point system is in place.

The problem, though, is that American announcers rarely bring up the way the points are awarded. Because Americans don't like to hear things like "that particular move was really difficult, a category A, and worth an extra 0.1 points, but he did it complete it smoothly, so there's a 0.2 deduction." To that, the viewers say WTF.

Yet we can handle the flopping, biased foul calls, and arbitrary traveling calls. Because it's something we can tell. Whereas "judging sports" are those where we can't tell how the points are awarded.

Agree with whoever suggested cricket (preferably as 20-20)

It's only played by a select few countries but the rivalries are intense and its a sport that's built on international competition (as opposed to purely national competition like baseball and softball). Every country that does test match level cricket would go balls to the wall.

It just lends itself so well to the olympic environment. It has to be there.

I'd like to see one auto-racing sport. Drag-racing seems short enough, time and distance-wise, that you could get a bunch of countries doing it.

I think it'd be fun to see an Olympic slapfest; in fact, I would only have matches between countries with some sort of diplomatic tension. Pistol duels - with kevlar vests of course - would be fun, too...

Have you ever seen any elite athletes in badminton, equestrian, table tennis or water ballet who look like that big-boned guy?

Top badminton players are the among the fittest athletes in the world. A top level singles badminton match would require the players to sprint 2 miles of distance.

    Should be added:

    DODGEBALL :D (I'd watch it)

Jugging: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jugger (from the movie Blood of Heroes)

Auto Racing (Even though, I am not a big Nascar or IRL fan, it would be kind of fun in the Olympics).

Something like the Running of the Bulls (or Pit Bulls, Lion, and etc): I know it will never happen, but it will be fun to watch.

I never saw the harm of having a blood sport in the Olympics, obviously they did in the ancient type of Olympic-kind of game.

    Dropped:

Shooting - I'm on the fence, but as it is....it is not very exciting, they should have moving targets across the sky and/or field...like it is the video games.

You guys have forgotten the most ridiculous "Olympic sport" of all...

    Trampoline.

Trampoline is a freaking olympic sport. Yeah, lets get rid of baseball and softball, but keep trampoline. Great freaking idea.

If I were to add a sport, I'd go with Futsal or indoor soccer.

I think any sport where an Olympic gold medal IS NOT the pinnacle of the sport, then that sport should not be in the Olympics.

Golf, Cricket, Soccer, Rugby Union, Tennis....none of them should be anywhere near the Olympics.

On MMA.....you know I think in say 12 years time it might be worth a shot. I think MMA would love to have that sort of honour available in the sport. At the end of the day MMA is the type of sport the Olympics used to be about.

One thing.....horse riding. I have nothing against it being in the Olympics but something doesnt sit right with me when the horse does all the work.
