snoopy, so, by your logic the Olympics should throw out every event where a country routinely dominates? That's just silly. I guess you could get rid of the pairs figure skating (not that I would miss it), cross country skiiing, etc...?

Hosting country adding their favorite sports is got to stop. I don't know what China will add to 08 Olympics, but I bet it's not a popular sport. Just like Koreans added Kewondo in the Seoul Game.

Well the Olympics are designed to feature the best athletes in the world at their respective sport. Should an athlete get penalized and be forbidden to compete just because they can earn a decent living at it?

And I would venture to throw out any sport where an Olympic medal isn't the highest you can necessariloy achieve. So for something like baseball and basketball, the olympics are more of an afterthought, a nice bonus to add to your championship ring. Same with tennis, you have four Grand Slams, so who has time for the Olympics?

Softball though, I believe should be reinstated. Yeah the US is flat out dominating, but give it time and the rest of the world will catch up (see Basketball). Plus, softball is the pinnacle for these athletes.

Curling is kind of interesting to watch, but I don't think it should really be included in the program. Neither should ice dancing. And they could probably stand to trim some of the events in the summer games as well (badminton? table tennis? Water polo? Synchronized swimming? Rythmic gymnastics? F***ing trampoline?!

I like snowboarding. It helps bring in the younger generation and represents an evolution of the games.

Golf, free style fighting, Olympic Idol (singing contest), body building (with daily sterioid testing), rapping (8 Miles style), arm wrestling, ultimate frisbee, video games (Starcraft, Halo), 1 on 1 basketball, 2 on 2 basketball, rock climbing...

Wouldn't it be cool if there is a board-game Olympics? Poker, chess, Go, Bridge, Mahjong, Settlers of Catan...

Get rid of everything that is judged. Add in more fighting sports, but do not allow judging (only knockouts and submissions). Add more shooting sports. Get rid of everything that involves ice skating that doesn't involve a hockey puck. That should be enough to get started.

It's a total different issue in terms of Soccer. The top players have too many international games to play, so the want to give the youth players a chance. Without that below 23 limitation, I am sure countries will put their top players.

Both teams have a maximum of 75 minutes each to use (including two 1 minute long timeouts). And yeah, I actually watch it. :)

Luge or Bob on the other hand. Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooring. But to each his own. It is not like there arent american sports that take as long, and actually can be watchable.

    I agree
I hate that these things are decided by someone's opinion
I can deal with the Ref's opinion of a foul or not
    but
the players have some say in the matter
In ice dancering and figure skating
whatever the judge FEELS that day is law

The Chinese are planning on adding Wushu (Kung Fu) to the 08. Also its Taekwondo not "Kewondo" and if not for the Koreans adding it Houston wouldn't have two time gold medalists Stephen Lopez.
