Moving my plasma too. But I'm not worried about it. It's STOUT. The OLED is more fragile than Tilman's ego.

My Panasonic Plasma is still rocking.

    14 years and going.

I am thinking of getting a new TV but it just wont die.

Panasonic really screwed things up by making it so durable.

My Samsung plasma still POPS on the rare occasion I even turn it on. No burn in. Flawless motion. But 4K OLED puts it to shame. For non-4K stuff and sports, plasma still rocks.

I thought I was missing something, but I have not seen a better picture than my 10-year-old Panasonic plasma.

I keep waiting for it to conk out, but it still stays strong.

If it isn't 4K and/or UHD, then it's a toss-up when it comes to great plasma TVs vs OLED. All you heard 15-20 years ago was that plasma would get burn-in. I've owned my plasma since 2006 or 2007. Still no burn-in. I don't use it much if ever anymore, but still.

It looks like you can still buy a new (old) one in the 60in range for $4,000ish shipped. You don't see many 14-year old gadgets hold value like that.

I departed with the Panasonic plasma a while ago but only to replace it with OLED .

Samsung is finally on board with the OLED train which proves we were right

Love my 65 LG C9, but still have my 60 inch Panny plasma in my bedroom and my other one in the garage apartment. Both still delivering an amazing picture.

So what is the closest thing to plasma?

I have not seen anything else that makes me think I can really upgrade the pic quality that I like, but I realize I will need to replace at some point.

The Amazon TV I got for my mom has a great pic for a mid-range, but is OLED as good as plasma or better?

I mean... we KNEW (and stated) that Samsung was moving to OLED. Because everyone knows "q"LED is just a marketing gimmick they made up. AND - us 99'ers need no validation.

I love my C9. But it's not really comparable to plasma, with exception of...
    • consistent PQ across all/most viewing angles
    • deep blacks
    • unnecessary fear-mongering over "burn-in"
The way plasma handles motion and displays light makes it unique.

But you absolutely wont be disappointed with an LG OLED.
