I loved Pryor! He IMO, was the originator of lay it all out humor. Ilove the classics, and I memorized Eddie Murphy as a child, but Pryor is at least one of the kings of comedy. I miss him sorely. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/oJaDMfIBw5c?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/oJaDMfIBw5c?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

Good thread for its content. Honestly I didnt quite know what to make of it either early on, if it meant older lesser known "forgotten" movies, older movies worth suggesting to put in your Netflix queue, older movies that have aged well and are still relevant, older movies that the "youngsters don't know what they're missing" I'm guessing all of the above. The Pirate Movie, definite blast from the past. Back when it was still accepted to make musical movies. I watched that a TON back then and liked Kristy Mcnichol. Back then movies were campy and even sucked, but at least they were fresh. I guess its hard to beat the newness of early cable days of "I can walk t*tties at home at midnight without having to go to the theater, strip club or p*rn store to see it." I'm going to watch BMX Bandits in a little bit to see if it still holds up.
A complete listing of movies, hopefully alphabetical, that despite having been produced earlier than recent memory, nevertheless somehow retain merit. So, in the roughly 110 years between the Lumiere brothers and, say, Wedding Crashers, isn't there at least one movie (and probably only one or two, max) which you think deserves mention? What else?
What about Time Bandits? I bought this movie on ebay for my son before DVD was even the norm, I think 2001? <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/E4vQ6y5gyoM?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/E4vQ6y5gyoM?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> "Mum! Dad! It's evil! Don't touch it! Is that Sean Connerry?!?"
A good reference! I had that on betamax (still laying around the house somewhere) but the tape got ruined 10 minutes in and I never finished it. I always got Time Bandits and Time Rider confused.
I really don't know what to make of Akyroyd as an actor; especially after all the paranormal crap. But it seems he's written alot the best stuff he's been in. I sincerely wonder what Eddie Murphy would have brought to Ghostbusters.
And you are an idiot. Please explain how old everyone is in this thread, and explain how our age affects your dumb ass.
welll judging from the replied comment and the offense taken from a self admitted ignorant comment thats on an internet forum in the "hang-out section" that could easily be ignored, you must be a woman who's older, obviously in her menopause years. the woman remark implies no sexism but rather the fact that woman are generally more insecure with age, (studies can be cited in the APA) and menopause can cause rapid mood swings and over the top reactions to simple things. the majority of the movies mentioned in this thread are mostly 30 years plus in age and therefore most posters are between the ages of 35-50 and this in no way, shape or form affects me.
By the way I like edward nortons older films, but those are recent compared to the other great movies in the thread. Generation X and fight club are master pieces in my opinon and the films themes, plots and conematography make em great, not the typical 'man stuff ' thats also in both films ( fights, car crashes etc)
