What I actually find more annoying nowadays than Soulja Boy's product,

is the constant references to Lupe Fiasco how he is the solution, the light, and they way to hip hop salvation. Maybe he is but I'm TIRED of hearing about that guy :)

If Lupe is so good to hip hop he'd do more than 1 more album to help restore it, instead of focusing purely on his personal pursuits.

man, whatever happened to the type of hiphop that in my opinion I considered music just like, mos def, talib kweli, common, jurassic 5, de la soul, the roots, a tribe called quest, the fugees, wu tang clan, outkast, nas, biggie, I could say the black eyed peas pre-fergie, and I can still go on and on with this...

Food & Liquor? He has more than one album out. Go listen to his stuff BEFORE he became mainstream. It just didn't garner enough attention because it wasn't "gangsta" enough.

I don't get Lupe Fiasco. He's not that good of a rapper at all, his beats aren't that good, and he used to be a skateboard rapper?

The Cool is an average cd.

why is everyone so angry at Soulja Boy?

He isn't the problem. It doesn't matter if you like a rapper or not, the problem is all of these rappers trying to copy each other and not being themselves. I didn't necessarily like his stuff but it was original and the kids liked it. The problem is there was 15 guys lined up to copy his sound to get money. Just like the problem isn't UGK its the young Jeezy's. Why can't rappers just be themselves.

    Ice T is a f'n legend though.

Ice T is off. 1st off Soulja Boy didn't single handely kill hip hop, it was on decline way before Soulja Boy entered the rap game. Yes Soulja Boy sucks everyone knows this, this just made Ice T look worse.e

That's because when hip hop went mainstream, the content eventually went mainstream as well. Thus, saturating the younger generation with dumbness like Chicken Noodle Soup, Superman, etc. Stuff like that don't have real content. It's just maybe 4 bars looped for 4 minutes.

It's actually amazing that Lupe Fiasco doesn't have more attention. That just goes to show you what most people think is good hip hop.

I prefer a hip hop song, not the hokey pokey

Don't Hip Hop die like every 6-7 years and makes a Lazarus-like comeback?

I remember when Hip Hop "purists" trashed stuff out of NOLA like Juvenile, Master P, and, yes, Lil Wayne. And now Weezy's the best Hip Hop has.

Bootlegging pretty much killed hip hop. Artist want to make money and the only way that is possible is to make songs that appeal to the people that will actually buy the cd. Those buyers are usually middle school and high school girls.

Funny thing is Weezy was actually better when he 1st came out with the Hot Boys. He had some songs that actually had meaning to them. Hot Boys had some hot songs and there cd's never ever disappointed. Oh yeah and Wayne isn't the best Hip Hop has right now.

Best in terms of keeping Hip Hop afloat in the mainstream. As much as it shocked me, I can't foresee another hip hop artist going platinum in his first week for a long time. When was the last time it happened before Lil Wayne? Wasn't it Eminem?

O I agree with you on that, I'm not sure if it was Em or not, but this is definitely a good look for Wayne. He did this without having to beef to get his record sales up(ex. 50 cent) ,and he did this in an era where most people bootleg cd's.
