Not an upgrade? In what world? Have you even watched him play? The leadership and impact on the game is a whole other story.
If and only if Kyrie is not anti-semetic, he would be the choice for an all-star level pg at a younger age.
I'll put it a different way. At the end of last year our starters were: PG- KPJ SG- Green SF- KJM PF- Jabari C- Sengun Even if I were to spot you the argument that he is not an upgrade and they are merely even, by signing FVV and making him the starter, you move KPJ to the bench. So FVV numbers above now replace KPJ's numbers in the starting lineup (I know this is an oversimplification). Maybe you still think that's a wash. But now you are allowing KPJ to take JC and Nix minutes. There is nobody on this board that can legitimately argue that this transaction does not constitute a MAJOR upgrade for the team. If they had this in place, I would be very comfortable giving up the BKN assets for Mikal Bridges. We would suddenly have a very formidable young team. PG- FVV SG- Green SF- Bridges PF- Jabari C- Sengun Then you would have KPJ's firepower off the bench, along with Tari, Garuba and whoever we come out of this draft with. And nobody is going anywhere unless we want them to.
Sounds great. Would also consider trying to trade the #4 and change for Trey Murphy III, keeping the BKN assets. Think he would fit well and cost a lot less. Edit:. And by change, I would include one or a combination of JC, Usman, KJ or the #20 to get it done. Preferably in that order.
There are a lot of possibilities. I just don't understand so many people being dismissive of FVV. There is a price where he becomes less attractive, but the fact that we could sign him outright, improve the team, and still have several assets available to improve more, just baffles me.
Right. He's a team guy, a SOLID vet with championship experience and still in his prime years. Not like the majority of dudes that have been linked to us.
