    Rep. Aaron Schock's (R-Ill.) office in Illinois state capital of Springfield was one of the targets of a planned terrorist attack, his office said Friday.

    Michael C. Finton, known as Talib Islam, was arrested Wednesday after trying to detonate a van he believed was stuffed with explosives near the Paul Findley Federal Building in Springfield. Finton had been collaborating on the attack with an undercover FBI agent and is being charged with attempting to murder federal officers or employees and trying to detonate a weapon of mass destruction, according to the Associated Press.

    "My office was notified today of the attempted terrorist attack on both the Federal Building and my Congressional Office in Springfield," Schock said in a statement. "I am incredibly grateful to the FBI for their fine work in preventing this terrorist attack."

    Schock's office was a secondary target, according to an Associated Press report.

    Finton, 29, converted to Islam in prison and said famed American Taliban operative John Walker Lindh was his hero. Finton also expressed a desire to fight Israelis in the Gaza Strip and received military training in Afghanistan. He was under federal supervision for months.

    Schock, 28, is the youngest member of Congress. He replaced Ray LaHood in a district that includes Peoria and part of Springfield.[/rquoter]

    Amongst other things that make this comparison silly, there isn't even any indication he was specifically targeting Republicans.

    Lumping a bunch of people (including a long time poster on this BBS) that have nothing to do with a possible terror attack and posting a thread accusing them of same makes you an *******.

    You have always been a troll and an annoyance (even to conservatives), but you have really crossed the line.

    Somebody please end this fool's ability to post new threads. It is not worth the waste of bandwidth.

    I have noticed that you are a presumptuous, name calling, integrity assailing, personal attacking, trollish prick who provides little to no redeeming value to any of your posts.

    In short, the BBS would be a better place if you found a new hobby.

    You need to find a story where a person was specifically targeted for being a Republican, and then levy the charge that extremist and highly popular left-wing media outlets were a likely contributing factor.

    For instance, if you say you believed highly inflammatory, anti-Republican rhetoric from popular left-wing media personalities contributed to that McCain supporter getting a 'B' carved into her face, that would be an actual parallel. This is not.
