I don't know which direction this thread will go but my first thought was the future saftey of anyone that makes a living knocking on peoples doors.
There is a dangerous amount of anti-fed sentiment in some parts of our country, especially in so-called "middle America" where many people are outright distrustful of the federal gov't or anyone who works with it. This is something that must be addressed.
I am definitely concerned about the amount of anti government hysteria being whipped up these days, but I'm holding off on assuming too much about this. Rural Kentucky is a huge region for both pot and meth production, and this guy may have stumbled onto something he shouldn't have seen.
Where would anyone ever get the idea that the census, necessary for proper representation and for the adequate allocation of government funds, is a bad thing? <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0ZS9UW0okY4&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/0ZS9UW0okY4&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
What sucks is that those census field guys are just regular people, not your typical FEDS. They're applying for $15/hr seasonal jobs because they have the time or need the money, generally not some lifetime federal employee with some ideological motivation. The murder is horrible and also completely misses the point, if it is what it seems like it is.
I think my favorite part was when Congresswoman Crazy McPsycho was complaining about there not being a question in the census about resident status. "This is a perfect opportunity to find out how many illegal aliens are in the United States." Really? That should really do a lot to find out how many people are here illegally because, you know, they'd answer that question honestly. My 2nd favorite part..."Does the government really need to know our phone numbers?" I'm pretty sure they could get your phone number anyway. They could look in the phone book. Call 411. Use the interwebs. I have family in Minnesota. I make fun of them often for producing such fine lawmakers as this moran.
Bachman would have been the first to want to round up the Japanese during WW II. I'm not sure if she is just trying to deceive the dingbat Fox audience or if she is that dishonest to herself.
Adding, she has no problem with warrantless wiretaps ("Voted NO on requiring FISA warrants for wiretaps in US"), and by extension AT&T handing over all its customers' private phone records to intelligence agencies, but for some reason it's bad if a census worker asks you at your doorstep for your number?
He teaches in a fez? Man oh man I hope he wasn't wearing a fez in rural Kentucky. Sorry. What I really mean is: + Rest in peace, low-paid part-time census guy who was trying to help his country.
I understand why you posted this in D&D, but really, there shouldn't be anything to debate about this, right? Murder is always bad.
