Correct. The most the Rockets can offer Oladipo right now in an extension (as opposed to during the offseason as a free agent with full Bird rights) is four years (beyond this season), $112,896,000.
Dipo does not want to be in Houston. Wants to be in Miami. So Dipo just has to wait the requisite 19 days before he is eligible to be traded for multiple assets. Trade#1 https://tradenba.com/trades/mWRfRuLUD MIA: Victor Oladipo, Chris Clemons HOU: Tyler Herro, Kelly Olynyk, Kendrick Nunn, KZ Okpala Trade#2 https://tradenba.com/trades/1AxsVMWcb ORL: Eric Gordon, Danuel House, Ben McLemore + 2 FRP HOU: Aaron Gordon, Mo Bamba Trade#3 https://tradenba.com/trades/U_luvsiiy PHI: PJ Tucker, KJ Martin HOU: Matisse Thybulle + FRP *Rockets add more players under 30 as well as better spacers/3ball shooters and playmakers - great fits for Silas triple threat motion offense. *Starting roster and bench balanced with more length, defense and triple threat players. Wall/Nunn/Exum Herro/Brown/Nwaba Thybulle/Tate/Kurucs AG/Olynyk/KZ Wood/Boogie/Bamba *Wall + Boogie become trade deadline options for FRP or another young player with potential. *3 separate trades save Rockets $$$ and only lose 1 FRP from their huge FRP war chest of low first rounders. *Olynyk, Exum, Bamba, Nunn all expiring contracts.
Yeah i don't buy that the Rockets want Oladipo as the third piece in order to compete, if they wanted that kind of player they should've just keep LeVert and the 2nd rounder they traded, Oladipo is better then LeVert as today (imo), but he might not be in few months, he's older and he's also expiring and will ask for more money than what LeVert is going to make for the next three years so, unless the Rockets think the difference between Oladipo and LeVert is like the one between Harden and Derozan (god help us if that's the case), i have to think they wanted him for having more flexibility. Spoiler fingers crossed
Hope Dipo stays long enough as a Rocket for me to see an all dog line up with elite defense: Wall Oladipo Nawba Tate Tucker
https://tradenba.com/trades/UKVcXzeNN Oladipo to Miami for Achuiwa, Olynyk, and Silva. Maybe get another low 1st round pick out of it too?
The deadline will be telling - see what Stone has in store post harden. I wouldn’t mind the herro trade - not sure how much Miami values Victor tho.
I'd take it for sure. Achuiwa as a defensive big to help Wood is a nice option for the future. Olynyk might even become one of those fan favorite types and get resigned during the rebuild. Still have plenty of assets left to go in the fire sale too.
