I did? BTW in Oladipo's age 25 season he averaged 23, 5 and 4, and led the league in steals, for a 48 win Indiana squad. This year, A Gordon is providing 14, 7 and 4 for an Orlando team that's headed to a sub-500 record, where's it's been for basically his whole career.
Paying the max for a 3rd option is beyond insane. Especially since his role is to beat 1 defender off the dribble to get to the rim because his ability to create shots for himself is abyssmal, never mind his teammates.
Paying Oladipo is a win now move and this is not a win now team. He is a player you add to a roster that is missing a piece. He is not a foundational piece to commit that kind of money to in order to build a roster around.
It's about fit as well as timing. Rockets do not have 25 year old Oladipo. They have stupid Oladipo, not 100% and demanding a max contract. Aaron Gordon would be much cheaper. And Rockets also have a plethora of 2 guards. EGo is already producing better than Dipo THIS season. And Porter is the future for that position. Mase and Brodric are also in the mix. Not to mention both Sterling and Nwaba also need minutes. And Aaron Gordon does not only fit a need for a starting 4, there is a great dearth at that position, but AG is also a perfect system fit for system Rockets play offensively AND defensively. You are thinking too linearly, this not a one to one comparison.
And no team should ever pay max money to a 3rd option, win now or not. It's just a poor way to run business.
He was the third option in Indy too. It's not even up for debate it's factual. Sabonis is 1A Brogdon is 1B and Oladipo was 3. Silas needs to quit resting him by himself. Play him with Wall and build up his value for a trade.
I realize that but why would this guy say he was the 3rd option on the Pacers? Seems he is not above being misleading to make a point.
Because Dipo was 3rd option THIS season for the Pacers. Brogdon and Sabonis are clearly 1A and 1B on the Pacers THIS season, even before Dipo was traded. Sabonis especially is playing at All Star level.
That makes more sense but I still don't see him as the 3rd option Brogdon sets up everybody else. And he was not that good with those guys anyway. Does not matter anyway.
it's not just the lack of explosion post-injury, his skills are lacking across the board. his passes are consistently off -- he has no concept of delivering the ball into the teammate's shooting pocket. his ballhandling inadequate to play the PG position and his erratic shot mechanics explain his paltry career FG %
