4chuckie: It's not that Stoops is necessarily better than Tressel.... It's the staff as a whole...they've got at least 4 assistants that will be head coaches in the next 10 years, IMO...
Not many Ohio State fans would say Ohio State's staff is better than Oklahoma's. At least, not the offensive portion of it. The criticism of Bollman (and Tressel's playcalling) has been brutal this year. Almost as brutal as the offense up through the Iowa game.
Well I think you will see any staff that wins a NC will have coaches who go onto better positions at other programs. It may not be the fact that they are better coaches or qualified to even hold the positions it's just the fact that people want winners in their programs. I like when a team wins a championship and suddenly that teams free agents get more money because they are winners. Good example is if you look around the country at all the coaches who were ex Ohio State assistants under Earle Bruce you'll see a ton of coaches: Larry Coker (Miami), Tressel (OSU), Glenn Mason (Minn), Moeller (Ex-Michigan coach) are the ones I know off the top of my head. Now they had a staff of coaches who went on to be succesful head coaches, but that does not mean they were that succesful as assistants (they were a consitent 9-3 team) But back on topic my opinion would be Tressel and his staff took similar teams (neitehr was top 10 teams in pre-season polls) to a NCAA Championship in their 2nd years and Stoopes has a shot for his 2nd in his 4th year, as Tressel has a shot for his 2nd in his 3rd year.
Anybody see Lupica on "The Sports Reporters" crying the whole show about how OU ran up the score? It was one of the most ignorant rants I ever heard by a sports journalists. I seriously doubt he even watched the game or even looked at the boxscore. I mean White did not play the whole 2nd half and OU did not even score in the 4th quarter. And they even took a knee with 8 minutes left in the game. How did they run up the score? Did he want OU to run backwards on offense or something? Lupica needs to be fined or something, he should do his homework before he goes on national TV and embarsses himself and the entire show.
That was almost as bad as Greg Hill (former A&M RB) on FSN saying that Fran should be fired first thing Monday morning. He was serious.
I don't see why people make such a big deal about running up the score. I could understand if it were Florida State vs. San Jacinto Community College in September, but A&M is legitimate (almost) D1 competition. If they can't stop your third stringers, that's their problem
