Yeah...its obvious that they'll go with the lightening bolt as the symbol...but why not just call them the OKC lightening.

Since you don't hardly see rockets anymore...our next logo could be a space shuttle. :p

I dont think its that bad really. Think about it

Supersonics/Sonics were named after the thunder like noise a plane makes when breaking the speed of sound. Sonic boom

Thunder fits perfectly with the team, even though they stole it from Seattle, its the perfect name to start a new era without going too far away from their original roots.

I dont know about you guys, but almost all new team names sound really stupid to me. For example, whenever the Grizzlies and Raptors joined the league, I thought those names were really dumb, but now they just seem normal. The thing I really dont like about the Thunder is that they will probably play thunder noises every time something good happens......that will get old really fast.

OOOOh that's hard... I think I could get about half of them.

    That's almost worth a thread all it's own. :)

    Let's see...

Alabama, NC State, Syracuse, St. John's, Marshall *thank you Matthew McConaughey*, Notre Dame, ... ummmm Tulane, Harvard, ooooh shoot Dartmoth I think is one, but I can't remember what goes after Green

Okay I give. If the ones I named were right I got 9.

I think Notre Dame's nickname is meant to be plural.

I'll add Stanford to the list.

they should have gone with Oklahoma City Reign, in honor of Shawn Kemp. that would have been much cooler.

You know, I was thinking about what Oklahoma is known for that they can use in a name and perhaps I'm just completely ignorant of Oklahoma history, but all I can come up with is the following:

Things related to native americans - most of which are tragic
    The Oklahoma city bombing
    Tornado Alley
    The dust bowl.

As such, the only conclusion I can come to is that they should name themselves "The Oklahoma City Tragedies".

Seriously, there has to be something good that has happened/is happening in Oklahoma. Somebody please enlighten me.
