That's pretty much how I have it too. Of the second tier, I think the Spurs & Jazz are a little ahead of the Nugs & Rockets, but it all depends on seeding.

It amazes me how little anyone talks about the Blazers. I absolutely love watching that team. If they don't draw the Nugs (and I'm hoping they do), I'll be cheering for them in the first round without a doubt.

Can we all agree that Lakers-Jazz is the ideal first round match-up?

    Not thread worthy so...

Has anybody been watching the Hawks game?

Josh Smith is 13-14 from the field (3-3 3PT, 4-4 FT).

As I type this he got blocked so now 13-15.

Every other Hawks player is shooting under 50% from the field.

Didn't know where to post this since I'm a rookie but on PTI it was reported David Stern is considering a 'pick your opponent' playoff format. Simply put the division winners would get to choose who their first round foes are.

At first I thought this was a terrible idea David Stern. Now that I think about it does kinda make sense. Think about it, the playoff format is meant to reward teams for doing well in the regular season. If there was a team that had significant injuries during the regular season, but then got those players back right before the playoffs. They would be far better than their record suggests, it wouldn't make sense for that team to be paired with an extremely high ranked team. Plus, it would give more reason for the teams to do well in the regular season. Then there is this, bottom feeders will only need to secure themselves a playoff spot and cruise through the rest of the season.

I would be fine with it if it was allowed for the first round only. The top 4 seeds would be able to select which team in the bottom four they would want to face: obviously, with the highest ranked team selecting first and so on, and the 4th ranked team would get the remaining team. After the first round, things will go on normally.

The NBA should do something like this to differentiate themselves. The example made on PTI was a great one. There is no way in hell the Mavs would have chosen Golden State a few years ago after going 0-4 against them during the year.

Another example. San Antonio is the current #2. I guarantee you they would choose Portland after the Lakers chose the Mavs. Fun idea to play around with.

Off the wall stuff but I actually like the idea of doing this in the 1st round only. It gives teams that did well in the regular season more of a reward.

I like the idea. You're right about the injuries and I think it'd give teams a better reason to finish the best they could.

Fakers just lost......I think these guys are just on cruise control and not worried about the Cavs making it all the way to the Finals.

God if only the Bobcats were the 8th seed in the West. They absolutely have the Lakers number. 6-1 in their last 7 meetings! Wow.

    Random comments on tonights action

    * Josh Smith, where have those numbers been all season...I picked you first round (10th pick overall) in my fantasy draft expecting games a little more like that a lot more often...

    * Detroit can try and ugly it up all they want, at the end of the day they are still going nowhere. With or without Iverson.

    * Bobcats beat the Lakers. Awesome. Although not such a big deal for Houston, still nice to see the Fakers lose.

    * Come on Wolves, pull your finger out.

    * Spurs...um... ah...leave your finger in.

    * NYK feel free to guard somebody.

    * I like the Kings to upset the Hornets tonight, I'm calling it now.

I missed this tonight but I watched them beat the Lakers in LA very late last season. The Bobcats were one of the worst (maybe THE worst) road team in the NBA last year. It's very strange.

Thunder look really good, execution on both ends of the floor. Man don't let that team make some moves, looking really solid.

The Spurs are having serious chemistry problems. Very ugly.

I bet they come back to win this game.

Thunder looking to do us a HUGE favor in San Antonio. Up 13 in third. That would be terribly helpful in snagging the 2nd or 3rd seed.

    Hope I didn't jinx it. :p

Man if Spurs keep doing poorly and somehow the j*zz can win some on the Road, can you imagine the beauty of having:

    1) Lakers
    2) Nuggets/Rockets
    3) Nuggets/Rockets
    4) Spurs
    5) j*zz
    6-8) who cares

God that would be amazing, you can go ahead and say Rockets then have 0 excuses for not making it to WCF, it would be a beautiful thing :D!

The 4th quarter is where it matters. Not sure if OKC will be able to keep this up.
