To add: Said that because I've been following Lamb in College and was hyped when he somehow dropped and we picked him, never expected it one year ago. I understand the dealfrom a basketball standpoint, but personally I'd be disappointed if he pans out like I expect him to and we just traded away a future stud.
What if, at the same time, Harden becomes a top-5 player in the league? Like someone stated earlier, you have to give up something to get something, and if that means acquiring Harden and watching him blossom into a superstar, then so be it. That's a win for the Rockets.
^^^ I understand Harden will be a top 3 SG or already is, but it's just that I've been following Lamb for a few years and always wanted him on the team. Now that we have him he's already gone after a few months, think you can understand my feelings. Like I said, I understand the deal and think it's a good one for everyone involved.
Oh trust me, I've been a huge Jeremy Lamb fan for quite a while. Followed him both years and college and a little high school, and when I found out what pick the Rockets had this year, Jeremy Lamb was one of, if not THE first player I had my eye on for us. Having said that, he was the 12th pick. As we all VERY well know, late lottery picks are extremely unlikely to pan out into anything great. We have a sure thing great player in James Harden, while young. I take that over Jeremy Lamb's potential any day, especially when I see him being at best a role playing sharp shooter
Jeremy Lamb is 20 years old while Harden is 23 years old. I doubt that lamb in three years will be at Harden's level. What people want to see lamb develop in to in terms of a star player is basically what harden has achieved currently. Lamb is great and i also wanted to see him develop but what he would be after the initial 3 developing years would in a best case scenario (huge IF) be harden. That is why im happy with the trade
Lamb looks great in terms of size and athletism but I question his motor and heart. It was the reason he fell in te draft like Perry Jones did. He'll have to push himself even more now since he will hardly see meaningful playing time. Maybe when Martin leaves next year he'll get errrr but I don't see him being better than a Nick Young type player.
I was realllllly high on Lamb! Hatted to see him go I think he will be a great NBA player & has the talent and skills to become an all star, IMO.
I did at 18. But they don't make 'em like me anymore... I know Lamb will do well. But I don't know what his ceiling is. Right now, he looks like he could become a great scorer off the bench. Beyond that, I can't yet tell.
Not being a homer or anything but the chances are slim for that to happen. Lamb and Royce were the worst defenders during preseason. McHale benched them many time for being a huge liability on defense. It will take a while for Lamb to become NBA ready. Wouldn't surprise me if Presti uses him for a near future trade. I am just happy that it was Lamb instead of Jones or DMo.
