Have the TExANS' management EVER listened to the fans? NO. :(

I don't know why you dudes keep bringing "rumors" up. MadMax, I don't know if I would trust a "nola" source...

First of all, I'm grateful for folks' posting articles about my Texans in these threads, whether I agree with the point of view presented or not.

Secondly, if Carr and the Texans do part ways, where do your rooting interests lie? If David Carr is the Texans' QB in September 2007 and beyond, then I hope he becomes great. However, as a guy who wants the Texans to become great, I hope David Carr is *not* the QB. Because I'm a fan of the Texans much more so than one player or another.

I'm not putting much stock in any one source. But when there are like 5 sources saying one thing...and a fair amount of time passes and there's no one suggesting they're wrong...well...that gives me some idea that something might be going down.

That's a good point, microsoft network. No matter where Carr is come September, I am a TEXANS fan before anything. I've only been preaching that Carr was NOT the entire problem, although he hasn't been good recently and it's because of the entire team, not just ONE PLAYER. But... plays do begin with him... I'll just sit here and wait for management to make their next move and I will support them.

Yeah, MadMax, we have a saying in Mexico that says "si el río hace ruido, es que piedras lleva...", which translates to "if the river makes a noise, it means it has stones in it" meaning that if rumors started, there's gotta be at least SOMETHING going on. I think management will make a move during the next month. Not that I want them to, but I think they will.

support them, yes. support your team, yes. but that doesn't mean you have to agree with every move they make.

if kubiak makes this move with carr...then he's admiting he was wrong before. he's saying that carr can't work here, for any number of reasons. previously, he stood up and told us all that he could work here. that he could win with david. the guys making these decisions aren't perfect.

When it comes to personal moves, it is a very good thing.

I wouldn't want the the Rockets moves based on this bbs opinions. The phrase "the lunatics have taken over the asylum" comes to mind.

If you are talking about the food and halftime entertainment etc, then maybe they should.

I will only be happy with Carr being gone if it truly helps the team overall. If that means wating another year for a better qb draft then I am ok with that. I'm not going to just chase him out of town becuase of a personal agenda.

I will be very disapointed if the Texans make a move just to appease the crowd.

Very much agree with this viewpoint. Disagreeing with the goings on within the organization doesn't mean a person is any more or less a fan. In fact, it shows the city of Houston and their fans actually care and want to see this franchise do something big.

If the fans were apathetic, that would be of greater concern than the fans bantering around their opinions.

So chill, Swoly. We are ALL fans! Some of us would just like to see some REAL results. Not everyone can be pollyanna about the present Texans situation. :p

Where were you during the season? There were many former Texans' fans who said they weren't rooting for the Texans anymore because of them not taking VY last draft.

    Huh?

Aggies & Irish played 3 times: Aggies kicked their ass by 3 touchdowns or so (the Tim Brown Towel game); Aggies got their ass kicked by 3 touchdowns or so (by Mirer & Bettis); Aggies lost by a couple of points in a very, very good game.

Has Plummer's possible retirement been talked about? Who are we getting rid of Carr for again?

Plummer's agent: No word on retirement
    By Bill Williamson
    Denver Post Staff Writer
Article Launched: 02/24/2007 01:24:59 AM MST

Indianapolis - If Jake Plummer is planning to retire soon, his agent isn't in on it.

"Not that I have heard," agent Joby Branion said. "You'd think I'd know something."

There has been speculation Plummer might retire rather than resurrecting his career elsewhere. A report in the Jan. 1 edition of The Denver Post indicated Plummer could end his career after 10 NFL seasons.

Plummer, 32, said late last season he will not continue to play in the NFL as a backup. Plummer was replaced by Jay Cutler with five games remaining in the season.

Plummer also doesn't want to go to a losing team and be a stop-gap option. If he plays, he wants to do it as a starter with a team that has a chance to win.

Among the teams that might be interested in Plummer include Houston, Tampa Bay and Jacksonville. The Broncos are trying to trade Plummer. If that doesn't happen, he will be cut.

Whether Plummer retires or not, the bottom line is he will no longer be a Bronco. The team will look for a veteran backup. Cincinnati's Anthony Wright might be an option.

Unless my memory serves me correctly, the Aggies only beat the Irish in either the 87 or 88 Cotton Bowl (I think the score was 28-7) but, the other 2 or 3 matchups in bowl games and yes, especially when Bettis was playing they got overrun. Just saying that until that last match at Kyle Field a few years back where they beat ND 24-3 the Ags haven't had great success vs the Irish and that game was when ND was in a downer year before Weiss took the helm.

I've been here all along, dude. Tried to root on the Texans as best as I can and tried to give Carr the benefit of the doubt. For the record, I nodded to Kubiak giving DC to midseason to put it together. I furthermore said, that I as a whole would give the Texans until midseason before I would voice any displeasure. For the most part, that lasted until the Skins debacle. Another game, we had no business losing. I respect and greatly admire VY's game but, one player rarely makes or breaks a team but CAN greatly facilitate the chances of victory or defeat.

    From John McClain's blog:

    http://blogs.chron.com/nfl/2007/02/sights_and_sounds_on_day_3_of_1.html

It's absolutely amazing how much misinformation is out there about Jake Plummer and David Carr. The Texans are going to trade Carr. They want Plummer. Plummer isn't going to retire. Plummer wants to be reunited with Gary Kubiak.

The problem is that Plummer has three years left on his contract and a 2007 salary cap figure of more than $8 million. The Broncos can keep Plummer to back up Jay Cutler, of course, but don't count on it. What Mike Shanahan wants is to convince the Texans that another team wants Plummer so he can get a draft choice for him rather than waive him. The Texans prefer to wait until Plummer is waived so they can get him for nothing.

Plummer will sign a new contract with his new team to make it more cap friendly. Plummer has told a couple of his close friends that he doesn't expect to return to Denver and that he wants to play for Kubiak again.

On Thursday, Kubiak and general manager Rick Smith came to the media room to meet with reporters. They said all the right things about Carr being their starter — right now.

I'm amazed at the reaction of some Texans fans after you read or heard what Smith and Kubiak said about Carr this week. Based on many of your e-mails, you're convinced that Carr isn't going to be traded. Well, exactly what do you think they should have said if they do, indeed, hope to trade Carr? Duh?

    Signs of a Carr dealership
    February 25, 2007

If David Carr was looking for a vote of confidence, he didn't get one last week.

Houston Texans general manager Rick Smith and coach Gary Kubiak lowered the concept of "lukewarm" to frigid when asked what the future held for the quarterback, whom many expect to be released or traded if Houston can find a way to pry Jake Plummer off the Broncos' bench.

Smith acknowledged that he'd spoken with several clubs about Carr but added, "The odds are favoring that he'll be back as our starting quarterback. We're excited about it."

He's so excited that he said "right now" so many times when asked about Carr that even he had to smile when asked what that meant.

"That's the truth," Smith said. "[A trade] is a possibility but the stars have to line up. We'd entertain it. That doesn't mean we'll do it absolutely. We're talking about our starting quarterback. The overriding thing is, would it improve our football team?"

In five years with Carr under center (when not under an avalanche of pass rushers), the Texans have never won more than seven games. Last year they went 6-10 and Carr was sacked 41 times, which is below his five-year average of 49.8. He also continued an alarming trend of throwing more interceptions (12) than touchdowns (11).

The fact that Plummer's improved play came when Kubiak was his quarterback coach in Denver only adds fuel to what is a conflagration, and Smith's comments didn't throw any flame r****dant on the fire licking up around Carr.

Trade speculation, said Kubiak, "is part of the business. I've had conversations with him this offseason regarding that, but if you're going to play in this league -- especially if you're going to play quarterback -- you have to have some tough skin."

"That's just part of the process. He's got to prepare and get ready to come back and play, and I have to get ready to do a better job of coaching him."
