The thing is 90% of point guards in the league can't score worth a lick. You would much rather have a bad defender on a point guard than a shooting guard.

And honestly, 3 of them make really really really stupid decisions. Big Dog is the worst of the bunch, I have never seen a player turn over the ball as idiotically (is that a word?) as him... Ricky Davis is an idiot too... and i'd say 3/4 of Steve's turnovers are just a lack of pateince... jut rushing and/or dribbling himself into trouble... i'd add Kobe but he's been playing too well.

do we really need Francis to be a true PG? I mean he can just bring the all up and dump it into Yao Ming who is a great passer and we can set up play through him instead..... and Francis still can have his shots......

Heh heh...that's funny. And you think that Francis is "non-typical." No, Francis is limited. He's a scorer. His passing and vision are WEAK! Now, since Francis is a scorer, you said that it doesn't matter if he's at the 1 or 2, he would still dominate the ball...ok, true. But, that weakens the team a lot more than the Lakers, because at least they have a PG that doesn't hog the ball. They have some balance or flexibility of styles at 1(Fisher) and 2(Kobe). We do not. We have a scorer at 1 (Francis) and scorer at 2(Mobley). They don't complement each other. I don't expect Mobley to make his team better by distributing the ball, but do expect my PG to do that. And if that PG wants to score, so be it. Just stop turning the ball over so damn much! Else, move to the SG spot so you can get the ball off a pass and then go into your little iso-jig. But keep the ball out of Francis hands; he's a train wreck waiting to happen. Kobe's job is to break down the defender just like Francis's strengh is. At least have Moochie on the court with Francis so we could have some complementing players, not replica players (Francis/Mobley). Francis doesn't NOT want to distribute the ball. He wants to score. Mobley doesn't want to distribute the ball. He wants to score...do you see the problem here?

Now, you might think that it wont matter if Francis moves to the 2, and Moochie at the 1 (you say that Francis will still dominate the ball...) Ok, fine. Dominate the ball at the 2. At least Moochie could bring the ball up the court normally and setup the offesnse, pick and rolls, screens, backdoors, alleyoops, etc...with Francis, Griff, Rice, Posey, Yao...sure, sometimes Francis could go one-on-one. But as a scorer! Like Jordan. And since Francis does have *some* passing skills, he'd still be able to use that as an option (but as you know, not often).

Back to your "there no such thing as *typical*" statement. You know what? You are right. We have 7-foot small forwards (like Dirk and Garnett) that can pass as well as score. These guys are well balanced and fundamentally sound in all aspects of the game. Francis is NOT part of this "well rounded" group. He's very weak at passing, court vision and getting his team mates in better positions to score the easy bucket. He's best at just scoring. So, he should just stop passing all together before he pokes someone's eye out with lose wild passes.
