    You said
I was responding to that arguement. No matter what arguement anyone wants to make, it's ridiculous if it's based on one game.

    107-89 win @ PHX:

    Francis - 5 points on 2-7 with 2 assists and 3 TO's.

    Mobley - 22 points on 7-15 with 7 assists, 3 TO's and 2 blocks.

    Moochie - in 26 minutes - 11 points on 4-8 with 3 assists, 1 TO and 1 block.

    Yao Ming - 3 assists.

    James Posey - 2 assists.

Some people may never "get it"! :) It's about touches and timing, and rhythm.

It's about the supporting cast. Our supporting cast is superb, but they don't compliment our 2 stars well (Stev and Ming). BUT, Moochie at the point DOES compliment Mobley and Rice. But this team is not built around Mobley and Rice.

I've seen this argument a lot, but if Steve is not the point guard, won't someone else bring the ball up? Won't someone else get the ball on a fast break? Yeah, Steve will get the ball a lot still, but he will do those point guard duties less often. He also won't be the one with the ball as the play is getting set up.

so who is the consistent shooter in this Rockets team? I just don't find one shooter that can shoot at 45-50% each night besides Yao Ming......

Uh yeah. McHale, Ainge and Parrish didn't have anything to do with it, did they?

Who the hell did Nique play with? Tree Rollins? I'm not arguing who's the better player, but Bird had alot of help.

Gee, this whole time, our savior has been sitting on the bench. Mooooocccchiiiiiiiieeeee.........

How many guards are there that shoots over 45-50%? Big men shoot high percentage shots and guards typically shoot lower (due to range of shots taken). And the only one of our big guys that is effective is YAO. Mo-T would ratehr practice 18 footers than to be a PF

Let's see Nique did have Kevin Willis who was an All-Star level type of player then.

Also who is Danny Ainge? He was about liek a John Paxson who benefitted from playing next to a great player who gave him the ball where he would be effective.
McHale I can't argue with, he was a nice big man with long arms.
Parish was a nice center but never confuse him with a great player he benefitted from teh system and his teammates.

So Bird had one otehr consistent all-star beside him (McHale) and so did Nique for a few years. What does Nique have on his trophy case, well some nice dunk trophies.

How come everyone seems to confuse
TRUE POINT GUARD for non scoring threat
    People seem to prefer Francis
    Score 12 with 10 ast
    than 20 with 6 ast

People prefer he not rebound [better be out onthe break
    and defending]
Basically . . . tear away his whole game
and become . .. . AJ [former spur and Maverick]

Psst, he's only in his 4th year & it's not over yet. Some other players that I'd consider to be great players are, Elton Brand, Antawn Jamison, Andre Miller, Lamar Odom. None of those players have seen the playoffs yet, either.

The team won 45 games two seasons ago without Yao or Griffin. Francis, Mobley, Moochie, Taylor, Cato and Collier were part of that team. Most of the other acquisitions are at a minimum equal (ie Walt Williams = Rice, Shandon = Posey).

The Rockets managed these 45 wins on the aging legs of Olajuwon and the under achiement of Cato. IMO, the Rockets would still be a playoff contender with even an average productive center. Yao's upside is in making a good team possibly a great team.

Or perhaps you're actually a Yao fan and not a Rockets fan?

Kevin Willis? Eh. Doesn't do much for me. Good player, but I'm not sure he's the #2 guy that you want.

I don't remember what system the Celts ran, but Parish was a very crafty player. No, he wasn't Shaq, but he could certainly create his own shot.

I don't think score and rebounds is so important to a point guard as the assistant and turnover ratio. If Steve can reduce his shooting and rebounding attempts and distribute the ball more often, he may become a better point guard. Otherwise, play the shooting guard.

Players that played for the Hawks while Dominque Wilkens was there:

    Moses Malone - 20.2 ppg in 88-89 & 18.9 ppg in 89-90
    Kevin Willis - 19.3 ppg in 93-94
    Tree Rollins
    Antoine Carr
    Cliff Levingston
    Spud Webb
    Doc Rivers
    Stacey Augmon
    Craig Ehlo
    Danny Manning
    Reggie Theus

Maybe not a collection of HOFers but not exactly crappy...especially Willis who was an absolute force in the EC when he was young. Go look up his carreer stats.

Jason Kidd is not half the offensive player Steve Francis is today? This is one of the most ridiculous posts I've heard and there a quite a few crazy ones. I'm not even a big fan of Jason Kidd, but looking at it objectively there's no way that statement is true.

On top of that Jason Kidd is a better rebounder and most importantly he's the better overall player. Francis is one of the games stars, but Jason Kidd is among the top 5 or 10 players in the league and is an MVP candidate again. Kidd makes everyone around him better, it's debatable if Francis does that and that is the key characteristic found in great point guards. I'd love to have Francis play the 2, but I might wait in the offseason to try to pickup someone to play the point
