rofl, give me a f'in break you think if UH had to play Ohio St's season-long schedule, that yall would still put up the exact same numbers and go undefeated or something? Kolb's fine, but he's no Troy Smith when it comes to big games. I mean, yall did get completely blown out by Kansas in the final bowl game right? didn't Kolb have something like 3 INTs and no TD passes. while Troy Smith was busy absolutely destroying Notre Dame. I'm no fan of ND or anything, but I'm pretty sure he would have killed Kansas
Ok, finally got back to Dallas and man, I'm tired... The game was freakin' awesome...Stood up in the student section the entire game...Yes, it was freakin' hot and muggy...I sweated the first three quarters and in middle of the 4th, it poured...I stayed and I was kinda surprised people left when it rained...You sweated for 3 quarters, so couldn't you use a bath... Funny Shocker pic as I was talking to OSU chick at Sherlock's and she asked about the sign and I explained it and she said, oh, like the Shocker...sweet...btw, she was kinda hot...or maybe, it was all the beer I consumed at the game...Man, there were some hotties there... I'm seriously considering going to Miami...Depending on how much...I'll be doing research manana...Kolb is a legitimate Heisman candidate...Go Coogs!!! btw KePow...Troy Smith is ok, and because of the hype, he'll probably win the Heisman, bu he won't be playing in the NFL as a QB...As far the Ft Worth Bowl, I was there, and yes, it did suck, but you're bring up last year, which is a totally different team? btw, did you not see UT kick OSU's arse in Ohio, speaking of last year...Carry on
Wrong...he'll be a first day/first round pick as a QB before it's said and done. He's already probably the second ranked senior QB prospect, and may be first if Quinn keeps tossing interceptions.
Maybe so but he's gonna fail in the NFL for the same reason Chris Leak will.... they barely crack 6'0.
Right now Troy Smith is the best QB in college football and he'll be drafted before Kolb. Let's not lose all sense or perspective after the win. Then again, that's part of the fun after sweet wins.
Troy Smith is having a Heisman like season but I don't think he's a first round pick, first day definitely. He's the highest ranked senior QB right now but in terms of the NFL, I don't think he will be ranked that high. At 6-1, he just doesn't have the size that NFL teams want at QB.
did you see the highlight they keep showing. that guy is an accurate mike vick. he should be the first qb taken. he's got a cannon.
sometimes I wonder if people watch these guys play. ok no passing game. just look at the stats. this isn't the paul thompson from a year ago. he's put up fine passing numbers. all thompson needed was confidence, he knows he's the number one qb and has played like it. edit: four games, 930 yards, 8 tds 3 picks, 162 rating, the longhorns are in for a battle this season.
Smith has nowhere near the rushing ability Vick has, with that said, being more accurate the Vick isn't saying a whole lot. I like Smith and I wouldn't mind taking him in the 2nd or 3rd if available. I think he'll go in the first day but I don't see a team that will take him in the first round. The guy has a good arm and has good accuracy, but at 6-1 (could be even shorter) the guy will have issues making passes over 6-5/6-6 lineman and will definitely have problems with rushers coming in. As I said, he doesn't have the scrambling ability Vick has. At 6-0, Vick has the same issues with height, I think that may be the reason why his passing hasn't been and may never be that great.
I had to scramble to find a bar that would have the game on. Tried BW3, but they had the UFC fight so the place was packed. Tried Knuckleheads, but they didn't have the game, so I ended up sitting at the bar at K.C.'s...good choice. Rooted heavily for UH and happy to see them get the win. Don't let the haters get you down. That's a good win for the program. Now time to beat The U!!
Troy Smith is probably barely 6 feet tall but he's no shorter than Vick, and he's a better thrower; I don't think that extra inch is going to make as much difference as you guys think, Joe Montana wasn't much taller than 6-1. Likewise I don't think if Michael Vick were 6-2 he woudl be a much more accurate passer either. Smith will be first round or maybe second.
First day, first round, make up your mind...Seriously, Troy is a good QB, and will be picked, but like I said, it'll probably be for receiver...I believe Kolb has the size, arm strength and poise to sustain a career at the next level at his true position, QB...Kolb doesn't have the exposure, but that will change this Saturday, a nationally televised game on ESPN2...
LOL, sorry, first round or second - yes that's a huge change from first day, which is first, second or third.... whether you choose to accept it or not, Smith is the second highest ranked senior QB prospect right now by all accounts. His numbers didn't look that great Saturday but if you saw the game it was obvious how good he was when he managed to turn it on in the second half. He will not be picked as a receiver, to suggest so shows that you don't seem to be that familiar with him and haven't watched him very much. He's a lot better than you're willing to give him credit for, and this has nothing to do with Kevin Kolb.
I think some might rate the 2007 QBs in this order Quinn, Stanton, Smith. Depending on how Brohm returns from his injury (and stays 1 more yr) your looking at 3 Qbs rated higher the Mr. Smith. Of course this is all irrelevent untill they perform at the combine. Paticularly, how well they do on the wonderlic. Look for Troy Smith to shatter VY's record. After all, a UT-Austin education is worth more than an Ohio State education.
Yeah, I've seen that nfl draft countdown lists Stanton in there.....they were the only people who did that, and after saturday night....I can see why. I doubt anybody is going to be ranking Stanton that high anytime soon. Stanton doesn't go ahead of smith unless smith has a serious meltdown (such as the one Stanton had). And thoughts of Smith going as a wideout (or behind Kolb) are pure fantasy at this point.
Pretty sure the idea is that if Kolb can run Briles offense on his own (he's been calling the plays from scrimmage for almost his entire tenure here) he can master almost any NFL playbook.
lol yeah, seriously... this whole anti-Troy Smith thing is utterly hilarious. he'll be drafted as a receiver? do yall know how many rushing yards Smith has this season? a total of 4! he's a pure passer, plain and simple seems like all the maniacal Kolb fans are only people who went to UH. I don't know anyone else who claims he's way better than Troy Smith and that he's the #1 Heisman frontrunner, lol
