I don't watch much ESPN college football coverage, but I'm watching the W. Va-ECU game and who is in the commentating booth- none other than Andre Ware.
on a side note, the qb out of north shore, reid, looked pretty good also. next great qb out of the htown area.
Why are people criticizing others for being happy? No one said the Houston Cougars were competing for the national title now. Please forgive them for taking some pride in the school they went to. I know it's awful of them. Anyway, I have a question for Cougars' fans. I know the basketball team was in the final four (twice) during the Phi Slamma Jamma era, but when was the football team dominant? I remember watching a game they played against Notre Dame on ESPN classic. I don't know what year that was though.
can someone clarify this rule when UH "fumbled"? i had a feeling they blew the call when i heard the refs announcement. even from the stands it was a clear fumble. now their reasoning for it not being a fumble is b/c the ball carrier's forward progress had already been impeded. i don't understand that. if a ball carrier is hit at 20 yard line and is driven back 3 yards, then the ball is stripped out, that's not a fumble?
if the refs whistle the play dead due to forward progress, before the ball is stripped out, then of course it's not a fumble if the refs have not blown the whistle yet in a play, then players are taught to keep going (on both O and D), and it should be a fumble
i understand that, but the ref never mentioned anything about the whistle blowing BEFORE the fumble. he said it was not a fumble b/c the ball carrier's forward progress had already been impeded.
No kidding. I guess you're only allowed to get excited about your football team if you went to a certain school.
I'm very happy my team won....lets take Miami down as well and maybe we get ranked....they look good right now. It's been a while since i have been excited to see my team play. I was on the internet on my damn phone checking scores until it was final... It's a good feeling.
The refs blew the call, not because of forward progress.. but because forward progress can only be reviewed in terms of a first down or touchdown call.. NOT a fumble. However, OSU got away with bloody murder on their first TD catch (obvious, obvious offensive pass interference) and also got their butts saved on a BS defensive pass interference call in the 3rd quarter. It balanced out eventually.
Our defense still has serious issues, but dang, that is a potent offense out there. It's unfortunate that Troy Smith will end up winning the Heisman because of all the ESPN hype, even though Kolb is a better QB.
Congrats to the Coogs! I wanted to make the game, but got wrapped up with some work. I honestly believe that OSU is going to end up 3rd in the Big 12 South (and beat that other team in Oklahoma without a passing game). The Cowboys are on their way up, but Houston is a really good team. Good luck in C-USA and with Kolb's Heisman chase.
