He's not as brilliant as Larry Brown. He's not as forthright as a Larry Bird or Rick Carlise. He's not as wise as a Hubie Brown. He does not command the respect of a Pat Riley.

Van Gundy is a little too clever and calculating. A less sincere Doug Collins.

    Me too . . . I don't think he is a good Motivator

He motivates through fear and intimidation . . . or he tries

our 3rd Quarters this season was not good

    Either we cme out unmotivated
    or
our half time adjustments were crap

I will say it was not the adjustments. . but i could be wrong

They sow the seeds of their own destruction.

Olajuwon thought Francis would extend his career. Within two years, Francis made Olajuwon expendable.

Francis, representing the Rockets in the lottery, brought us the lucky leap to #1 that snagged Yao Ming. Within two years, Yao made Francis expendable.

Dawson and Van Gundy just brought us Tracy McGrady. I bet within two years he'll have made one of them expendable.

Where have my Rockets gone, first Rudy T, then Francis, dare I say it, my NBA life has lost all its meaning. I don't think I can watch anymore, and all the while everyone here is acting like some great revolution has occured and that this is all for the best. Best my eye.

Great stuff, but, damn, do I hate those sports guys. I get so worn out by them calling Yao "Ming". They just sound so damn stupid. Reminds me of the Car Talk guys. :)

    But, great stuff from JVG.

Why do we love JVG? He looks at two-time scoring champ Tracy McGrady and sees him as a great DEFENDER.
That's a coach committed to his system.

it's a little secret dream of mine that tmac and jvg clash to the point we fire jvg. tmac has the star power that someone like francis didn't have to get it done.

but don't tell anyone i said that.

Your hypothesis along with other reasons are why I will be a much happier person when the Rockets announce they've signed T-Mac to a 5-6 year max contract.

IMHO, this deal has brought JVG another year to prove that he is better than an average head coach. That means 50+ wins, and a decent showing (6/7 game series) in the second round of the playoffs. Any less than that, and next June the head coaching seat better be on fire, or VACANT.
