Nah.... I just consider a great coach anyone from oh, say... That "Red" guy from Boston... that "Slick-haired" dude from the showtime Lakers years... that one time Rocket lifer guy... even the Zen master.... Win some rings, and I'll fall in love too. Until then you're just as loveable as Don Cheaney. I guess I'm just, bracing in case this is much ado about nothing.
Well... Don't think negatively, IROC. We are on our way. Brace for the banners hanging from the rafters. I know people hate him now...but trust me...you will learn to love him. It just takes time. I have seen him for 7 years before he came to my beloved Rocks. I have more time in the relationship than you do, ROC.
Well even if that happens (again, btw - we already have 2, remember?)... It would only be a matter of time before Les gets him to "resign." I hope we will get back. I am just leery of all the consistent patterns of former higher scoring shooters getting squelched under the "new" system. I confess. I am in DOUBT... still.
Tis ok, ROC... Its not squelching. Its sharing. Anyways, T-Mac can take all the shot he wants. We only have one scorer in the perimeter. Not 2 like before. Yao can get his 20pts. Mac can get his 25. We still need more from somewhere so there is no need to hold back that Mac. I still wanted a PF, though. But O well. I want alot of things.
I watched Yao's most recent exhibition game in Dallas last week. To be honest I was a little disappointed. First, against Justin Brown, a guy who is one foot shorter, Yao chose not to do the jump ball. In international basketball you do jump ball twice, once at the beginning and once at the start of the second half. So winning jump balls is much more meaningful than in NBA games. Second, he still has the bad habit of lowering his body before taking shots, and let Justin Brown block him almost the same way as Shaq did many times. Who the heck is this white guy Justin Brown anyway? I need to know because he scored the most points in that game (like 22) and looked aweful sharp against Yao. While the excuse might be Yao was a little out of shape, he should never defer the duty of taking the jump ball when he is clearly head and shoulder above everyone else! Finally, who will be doing jump balls for the Rox?
Ooops, my previous post seemed out of place. I likely all Rockets fans, am extremely excited about the TMac trade. I am just a little concerned about Yao's progression. I hope the man won't disappoint!
Weird... Its like the Rockets are blessed and people around the league and many fans don't appreciate it. So much whining during the years. Can you name me 3 franchises who have been as lucky as the Rockets? From Sampson to Olajuwon to Drexler to Barkley to Francis to Ming to Mc Grady...thats alot of star power in 20 years. I mean, lucky to get the ping pong ball to bounce your way THREE times in your history? And to have a history of ownership where they take chances and make bold moves? Blessed. Basketball blessed.
Along those same lines...how many all-stars has Atlanta had over the years?.....Exactly! Blessed indeed!
Ping pong ball once, cointoss twice. Then of course, we also drafted Elvin Hayes No. 1 in 1968. I don't know if a cointoss was involved then, however.
I agree thanks that was great Jeff Van Gundy is awesome!! I hope he will do a good job coaching our new team. Jimmy Jackson is very valuable and I hope he plays solid like last season. I hope he benefits now with Tmac...and Yao still. Right now we have Juwan, Mo, and Spoon at the 4. I guess that's not bad. I want more splashes lol
I'm still disturbed by what's missing in Van Gundy. He's a weird mixture to have as a coach. He's got more encyclopedic knowledge than a coach probably needs, the way he rattles off tiny stats from previous games. And he's got less congeniality than a coach probably needs. Can the assistants supply enough of the humanity Van Gundy doesn't project? If not, I fear for our team. Being a human computer is not enough.
