This is what I was thinking. He was sending a message to Griffin that in the real game, if you pick up 2 quick fouls like that, you'll be riding the pines.

Either that or somebody forgot to explain the rules to Larry. lol.

You know, Eddie Griffin played a year of college ball. you only get 5 fouls there. The year before, he played in high school... and yep, you can foul out there with 5 as well.

Come on... Griff knows what "foul out" means. What's the point in yanking him around and possibly injuring his confidence early on? Right now, isn't the objective to see what he can do and get him used to NBA competition? That really annoys me.

    Still, 9, 8, 2 isn't bad in limited action.

Then he obviously hasn't learned as he picked up 2 quick ones. Without actually being there, none of us is ever going to know. It could've been something simple as Larry not knowing that you can't foul out of a game. Who knows. Maybe a reporter somewhere can find out for us... are you listening Feigen?

The guy I'm surprised people aren't talking about is Terence Morris. He seems to have had a very nice debut. Holding Odom to 23 is actually pretty nice, considering guys like Mike Penberthy, Sean Colson, etc. were right around that amount last night. If he could come into his first NBA action against Lamar Odom and play solid defense, hit 50% of his shots (most from long range), handle the ball well, and do well in transition he may have a very good future for us.

I love all the recaps we've gotten from the different people on the board.

I was encouraged by the play of Morris, Griffin and Langhi. I have a feeling Rudy is going to find a way to give Griff, Dan and Morris minutes this season.

And I don't see why people are complaining about Odom playing in the game. THe higher the level of competition the better, imo.

As far as Griff sitting out the first half - big deal. Maybe the coaches were trying to teach him some sort of lesson. He'll get his minutes.

The fouling out thing doesn't bother me.
The 8 rebounds from Eddie and his blocks no matter how they may have happened, mean more.

Crisco - 100% agree. Far better to get battle tested by Lamar Odom than get a triple-double on a guy who'll be playing in Yakima 3 months from now.

Maybe Griff was pulled so he doesn't play a dozen or so summer league games fouling at will and develop a habit, or worse, a reputation...

Dr. of Dunk: He obviously hasn't learned because he picked up two quick ones? You know, that's the sort of thing that's just going to happen once in a while. Happened to Jordan, happened to Dream, happens to Eddie Griffin. In fact, the odds of that are only increased by his probably nervousness playing his first pro-type game. And then to yank him immediately after? That's just plain irresponsible.

And I think we can be fairly sure this actually happened, since the reports are consistent in that respect. If the coach didn't know you couldn't foul out... then he still made a mistake. I bet he got a nice little set of rules at some point. The Clippers' coach obviously knew what was going on.

Either he made a mistake by taking Griffin out or he made a mistake by not being informed. Either way, the coach is at fault.

DaDakota: Didn't see Mo T in that summer league game, did you [IMG]? Of course Griff played the PF... who else would if both Langhi and Griff were supposed to start?

Me again, Dan Langhi, he did it again, I think he is over that airball thing....Venson Hamilton, who would have known??? Is this two years in a row?? I am sorry, I forgot, we are still looking at the new guys. Morris seem to do okay. Evidently everyone interested Eddie Griffin. He got 8 rebounds and some blocks with an excuse.

Let us keep in mind that Eddie isn't going to be a starter. We only hope that he will contribute.

Shandon wants to play, but at what price?

Walt is still a better shot, is still taller and tries on defense.

Pecosbill: Why do you think Eddie won't start?

Barring a complete collapse, Griffin's going to start. Houston is weak at the 3 and picked up a stud. I'd be shocked if he isn't in the starting lineup on Oct 31st.

Steve "Franchise" and "Cat" Mobley and maybe Mo Taylor. A quality center maybe named Hakeem.

It is time for me to say good night!

BTW, from what I've heard, it was Morris guarding Odom. Griffen was guarding post players.

Eddie made the mistakes in picking up 2 fouls in under a minute. If Hakeem did, if Jordan did it, if anyone did it, it would still mean they hit the bench. My belief still stands that none of us know what the real cause of him getting pulled was. Until then, I'll reserve judgement.

Err... Digital Dumbbell, Langhi was put on the roster as an SG. We don't know what the heck Eddie played unless somebody tells us. [IMG]

i truly believe that it was a good decision on Rudy to take Eddie out of the game.. I'm sure he wanted griffin to realize if this was a real game he would be in trouble... being that he is our starting 3 he needs to learn to relax out ont he court and not get into foul trouble.......I'm sure Rudy and crew knows he can ball but I think they want him flowin into the system without gettin into foul trouble
