a) Have Deke elbow Okur in his 'n face! b) Hope that Rafer plays. c) Tell the Rockets to find more ways to get to the basket and draw contact from a Utah team that leads the league in fouls. (their Achilles heel) d) Hit 70%+ on free throws. e) all of the above.
Well ok Hillboy, here it is......this thread is about what you would recommend doing now that the team is down 0-2 to the Jazz......feel free to join in about that topic. This is not about "What Hillboy feels about DD".....this is a chance to say...hey we are down 2-0, let's throw caution to the wind and try XXXX.... I agree we are outmatched and don't believe for one second there is a magic pill or player on the bench that will change that fact.... So, why not try something else......have some fun, get some experience for players that will help you down the road...... Use the last 2 games as a playoff training ground for Landry, Brooks, Novak, Scola......so that next year when you come back with a much more healthy roster you are more equipped to compete. So, contribute to the topic, and try not to follow "Sam, I am, the Moran"....as he comes in to snipe and not contribute.....reading is fundamental. DD
Start with an all-defense team: -Mutombo -Hayes -Battier -Rafer -Tmac (for offense) First off the bench: -Loren Woods -Bobby Jackson That's it. Those are the guys you rely on. Scola, Brooks, Novak and Landry just dont have it this series. Bench them for the duration.
Because he's dillusional thinking he can guard Deron by laying off his man and coming to help up on him.
Man that drove me nuts....Scola shuts down Okur easily IF he just stays on him......he kept leaving to double Willams and Okur kept burying the 3 ball. All you have to do is make Williams the scorer....and cover everyone else....same defense as with Nash. That is how I would cover it....... Everyone stay home......NEVER leave their jump shooters......EVER.... Luis....you listening...NEVER LEAVE OKUR !! DD
Our squad played with better intensity and hustle in game 2 than in game 1. Hopefully this continues because we are going to have to scrap on the road for everything we get. Hopefully with Rafer's return allowing B-Jax to come off the bench, it'll provide a spark to our bench play. Plus we can't have any mental lapses in the whining moments of quarters.
Exactly, Scola has been playing some very low-IQ bball lately. He also fouled Kirilenko in the last seconds, thus nullifying Bobby Jackson's game-tying 3 pointer. It wasn't a flop, it was typical Scola trying to get away with a cheap Euro foul. And DD, Scola is shooting 38%. Heck, even I could score 14 points if I am allowed to shoot 38%.
houston must win 2 games at utah if they want to move on to second round right? They shouldn't play L. Head, and use D. Mutombo more and maybe sub in loren woods instead of hayes sometimes, after all who is hayes after what use is he if he cant score?
What would I recommend? Well, the die is pretty much cast as far as this playoff series is concerned. It's far too late to make the kind of changes they'd need to really turn this thing around. I'd say continue to give it your best shot and let the chips fall where they may. This team started the playoffs at a huge disadvantage without their best player (Yao). They simply lack the right mix of players that they need to match up with their Western Conference counterparts and this series only serves to highlight that disparity. I'd say quit looking for miracles to appear from the end of the bench. BTW, your signature is just mean...
Now, now. You know that I've been very fair with regards to your positions. And I have nothing but the utmost respect for you but I have to agree with Sam on this issue. You are letting your emotions run away here because you just don't want to face the inevitability of it all (sorry, I watched the Matrix Trilogy this weekend). At some point, you simply have to play with the hand that you have been dealt. I don't think that's really a wise thing to do at all and could end up back firing or worse. The one true constant in life is that things can always get worse and I equate making a move like this to be the equivalent of dumping jet fuel on the fire. I'm also not really all that sure that all of those "young players that could help us down the road" are the answer at all. It may well be that many of them won't be here when this thing gets turned around. Sam's OK -you just rubbed him a bit raw with your "JVG Is The AntiChrist" and "Spanoullis Is A Basketball God" crusades last year.
Down 0-2, the option for Rick Adelman was apparently "let's try to win and play the guys who got me here" not "screw it, I'm going to play Brooks and Novak because the grass is greener." I guess it worked.
