Move the ball. Try and break down the defense with ball movement. Aim to have every Rocket on the court touch it once per possession.
First, I wouldnt tell them obvious things like make shots or hit your fts. Its not like people miss those on purpose guys. 1. Play AB more, tell him to penetrate every chance he gets. 2. Tell Scola to focus on making the shot rather than drawing the foul(if they foul anyway... great!). 3. Try the Scola, Landry, Harris frontline to try and get more rebounds. 4. Play Tmac less, give him a couple more short breaks so he can catch his breath... Try to get his teammates to produce first and leave Tmac to spend most of his energy in the second half if possible. 5. Post up Scola against Boozer a little more. Scola has been getting him in foul trouble and thats a positive. 6. Would not play Luther. 7. Need to get Landry involved. He was a big part of our success after Yao went down and if he cant get it going, our chances to win any games are greatly diminished.
i agree. be who you are. it is particularly important to be who you are and not be someone who you ain't in a setting like the playoffs. by that i mean things like run some motion offense - even the players may not have totally grasped the plays - rather than some stupid and useless p&r's with mcgrady and, well, chuck hayes and co. that is not adelman's offense. that is jvg's.
1. Don't play Luther Head (is there anyone out there that actually disagrees at this point?) 2. Rest T-Mac with 1 min to go in 1Q until 7-6 min to go in 2nd Q. 3. Rest T-Mac with 1 min to go in 3Q until 9-8 min to go in 4Q 4. Scola go up strong, stop dancing around the paint. 5. Scola, lay someone out on defense 6. Play Brooks and Jackson at the same time assuming Rafer is back 7. Play Deke in 1st Q and 3Q, consider playing him in 4Q if Boozer is killing us or we are desperate for rebounds 8. Find Novak a minute here or there and make sure he gets a couple of 3s off 9. Get the ball to TMac on the wings and let him create in 4Q--no PnR with him trying to trigger the Offense 10. Leave everything out on the floor in game 3
- Play Novak 48 minutes. We need shooters more than anything. - AB starts. Bobby Jackson plays no defense. - Start Scola at Center with Landry at the 4. Try an all-offense team.
Rockets need to stop playing luther head and stop with the high pick and roll with mcgrady... its the same jeff van gundy offense they run when mcgrady uses the high pick and roll. The rockets lack a post presence so put mcgrady in the post and let him attack that way.
I know this has been said but... 1. Start Aaron Brooks! He destroyed the Jazz's interior defense when he played for like...4 minutes in game 2. He looked like Allen Iverson out there! If his game could develop to even half of AI's level next year, he will be starter for sure. 2. Use Loren Woods with Aaron Brooks. I seriously picked Woods, if he got ANY minutes, to be the second X-factor (second to Brooks). He and Brooks can play a poor man's Chris Paul-Tyson Chandler P&R Fly-To-The-Basket Alley-oop! It WILL work!! 3. Landry needs to play in place of Deke. Have Deke win the tipoff, and at the next timeout, Landry in for Deke. 4. Adjust the starting lineup!! Brooks/BJax TMac/Harris/Novak Battier/Harris/Novak Scola/Deke or Woods Landry/Woods or Deke If this ^^^^ doesn't work out, then just put all the rookies/never been in playoffs before, players in! If we go down 0-3, then rest Tmac. Brooks/BJax Harris/Novak Battier/Hayes Landry/Scola Woods/Deke 5. Start Landry over Scola. Force Landry to shoot from the outside. There's no better practice as being in a real game. When Scola is out there, make Scola shoot 15-footers...this will help his real shot along with his FT shot.
My thoughts exactly... Novak needs to see the court, and he needs plays run to get him open. I bet Tmac feels more like driving into the lane and dishing off when he is passing to someone who can hit a shot. Let Novak guard AK, if he scores 30 on us, so be it. Jackson doesn't have the wheels to play big minutes anymore. Deke, God love him, can't chase Okur or Boozer around. Landry doesn't look very healthy, or it could be his reduced minutes has hurt his conditioning... who knows but he's invisible on the court.
play like you usually do until, the last 6 minutes of the game. if we are up, still play like you usually do. if we are down 7+, play our future. this includes, landry, head, brooks, novak, hayes, scola. experiement. see which players should play, and which players shouldn't, and be trade bait with bobby's expiring contract.
Sell your soul to the devil, thats our only chance. Kidding... But really, we just need to make the dang baskets! I think we have a chance still it's not like we're losing by 20 pts in these games. Our guys aren't laying on the ground dead. Keep hope alive.
Tell Luther he sucks. Tell our players to concentrate on FTs Tell them to go up LOOKING to get hacked every time, even flop if you have to. Play physical with utah, I mean play dirty. Talk a lot of smack.
shane is now boston's property http://www.nba.com/news/garnett_defensive_080422.html can't make a new post, so i just reply in here
i feel our game plan is fine. we've shut down boozer. our D was better in game 2. we just need to make our layups and hit free throws and we'll be fine. our guys just need to not fall behind so early and force tmac to expend so much energy early so he has energy in the 4th. i think just play the same way.
A much better thread than polling trading Tmac for Manu. Objective in Utah is to get one win, and preferably the first of the two. How? One word. Tmac.
