I was an Oilers fan, but no more. All that's left is memories. Butt Adams can burn for all I care. Texans fan since Day 1. They are my team through thick and thin.
This. Stopped reading here, actually. And to the OP: thanks for ripping that wound open again. No, really. Thanks.
I rooted for the Titans, when they left Houston, and still rooted for them (against other teams, not the Texans) in the first seasons of the Texans, but two or three years ago, I dislike the Titans now, so I want to keep the Texans please.
The Oilers/Titans can rot in Hell. I would not support them if they moved back. In fact, I would openly cheer against them, and root for them to loose. And that won't change once Bud croaks and becomes a Lich.
I grew up with the oilers. Titans are not that team. Granted, after the first few years they left, I was still a fan. Afterall, they most of the team were oilers. But as all those players began moving on and retiring, there was nothing of the oilers left, save fisher. Texans. I wish we had the oilers history "officially", but those players that played in houston played for houston...and that's all that matters.
Ancient history. Bud can take his team anywhere he wants but he can never take away my Oiler memories. Now the titans are just another divisional team that I hate. Go Texans.
Whoever is still holding on to the Oilers needs to let it go. They weren't even that great. The biggest thing they're known for is the choke job against the Bills. The Texans are still building their history and I've been there from Day One.
In a perfect world, Bud is no longer owner of the Titans and the new owner gives the name "Oilers" back to Houston.
Wouldn't want the name back anymore. I've done my grieving. She's gone, man. It's been like fifteen years. It's all Texans from 2002 on out.
Bob isn't a native he moved to Houston when he graduated from college. It was hard to not root for them when they first left but once they changed the name it became a lot easier. When the Texans stepped on the scene its been all Texans since then.
We should really be grateful for Bob McNair. No matter anything else he does, he brought football back to Houston.
Don't want the name back. It was ruined the minute it was used in Tennessee. Hey Bud, when's your next birthday? Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick.
I got over it tonight. My grandparents were season ticket holders since 1960 for the Oilers and some of my earliest happy memories were very attached to the Luv Ya Blue era. I remember sobbing after the two big losses to the Steelers... After the Oilers left I started watching more NCAA, and eventually stopped watching the NFL completely other than occasional Ricky Williams games (yeah...I like the Longhorns). I'd long since moved away from Houston by the time the Texans started playing, and as happy as I was for the fans they got the team instead of LA (where I lived at the time) I never got into them or the NFL in general. Tonight, by chance, Israel showed the Texans/Redskins game and I watched it...I totally got into it, and it reminded me what I liked about football. I don't miss the Oilers so much at all any more.
WTH is Oilers/Titans? The Titans are a separate team I don't give a flip about. I was an Oilers fan and am trying to be a Texans fan simply because I'm a Houston fan. I couldn't give a rat's ass about a team in Tennessee.
