I didn't claim anything. I quoted the IG report, not a slanted article from the Federalist. If you have a problem with what OIG report says, then talk to them.

I believe the debate was whether Comey leaked classified material.

Can't the Criminal in Chief classify the Comey memos after the fact? And then sic AG Barr on him?

    That seems legit.

I can't proceed with a conversation if you're going to cling to this really terrible argument. There was an investigation into possible crimes and Trump did everything he could think to do to keep the investigators from investigating. That's illegal and an abuse of his office. Doesn't matter if there was no crime. This is not new legal territory here. We can't know if they'd get a conviction or not with the given evidence, but as a matter of law intentionally impeding the investigation is against the law.

Besides which, it could be that Mueller wasn't able to find anything really damning in his conspiracy investigatino because Trump was successful in obstructing justice.

Continuing to trot out the Obstruct What? argument would be akin to me saying Comey didn't leak anything because everything he said is true. Everything he said in his leaks was true and I thank him for his service. But, I'm not going to pretend they weren't leaks, whether they were classified, sensitive, or whatever else.

Legally he could of shut down the investigation any time as hes the head of the executive branch.

you could also just ask mueller, but to be fair Mueller is utterly clueless.

Your argument that the SC needed to exist to show (as you see it) obstruction of the SC is paradoxically stupid.

Literally no official authority or report is claiming Trump obstructed anything. The Official OIG says Comey violated tons of policies. Do you not understand the difference?

There was information sharing per the Report, Trump’s campaign shared information with Russian backed individuals. Try again.

There was no crime under the mandate given to Mueller, considering he operated that the president couldn’t be charged...

And instead Trump obstructed justice because publicly shutting down an investigation into himself would be a very bad look...

Lol... a snippet of Mueller. How about the report where it laid out it couldn’t exonerate Trump on obstructionism...

Constitutionally, the president has authority over the DOJ. But they also established the head of the FBI as a semi-autonomous official to protect that bureau from political meddling. Trump trampled all over that. The framers also gave Congress oversight to review the actions of the agencies and the presidency, which they are belatedly conducting. So, "legally" Trump can shut down the investigation whenever he wanted, but politically Congress can decide it was improper. Given our established ethics and policies, Congress would be very reasonable to conclude that he did not have such a right. You and I know all the electoral calculus that has produced the current climate of inaction.

Mueller's investigation wasn't demonstrably hindered, but not for lack of trying. Trump ordered Mueller fired but was stymied when his minions would not comply. Attempted obstruction is obstruction. And, while not curtailed, the investigation was not cooperated with either by any testimony from the President.

Besides which, the obstruction of the FBI's investigation preceded and may have culminated in the special counsel investigation. You are literally trying to excuse earlier crimes with later crimes. Trump obstructed Mueller to keep him from proving that Trump obstructed Comey.

Go ahead and throw the book at Comey. Put him in some dark dungeon where he can't send any chiding tweets. It won't change that we know Trump engaged in an extensive cover up of all his relationships with Russia, with whom in no way was he conspiring.

there is no such thing as a president leaking classified information. President has the ability to declassify anything at anytime. Are you are talking morally or strategically it was wrong to share some information?

'demonstrably'? Mueller says not at all.

this obviously makes no sense, because if Trump wanted Mueller fired he could of fired him. you admit this above. But your claim is wrong anyways. what happened was he called an employee to compel another employee to fire Mueller because Mueller had a conflict of interests (which he did). This a. would not end the investigation and b. proves that he let Rosenstien call the shots even though he could of if he wanted.

I love that this is your example of the president 'doing everything in his power to end the investigation' . brilliant.

literally no official authority is making this claim.
