Now if USC would lose and LSU would win.......I can go cover the National Championship Game! That would be fun.
Maybe Carr could have reacted differently to the question, but I agree it was a dumb one. Lloyd Carr has led his team to a 14 pt lead at the half over the defending national champions, and all the interviewer wants to focus on was why Carr didn't try to move the ball with 40 seconds left from their own 30? Not a question about how Michigan's O-line was dominating, and how Michigan's defense had only allowed like 4 first downs until that last OSU drive before the end of the first half, but rather about the last 40 seconds. If they get a better kick return from Breaston, sure. But has anyone seen the way Ohio St. has scored on defense this year? Why is it so ridiculous that Michigan would want to not risk turning the ball over, and guarantee they start the second half with a 2 TD lead AND the ball? If Carr is an ******* for responding like he did, then the reporter is a dumbass for asking a question that Carr would have an obviously acceptable answer for.
Still part of the job. If you're going to be an ******* while doing it, simply tell the reporter you don't want to do it. No need to treat him like dirt on national television.
So, I guess me, my father, and the announcers are dumbasses as well? If you have two timeouts with 40 seconds left in college football with only 40 yards to go for a decent field goal chance, I believe that you should go for the score, especially in a rivalry game when they've taken the momentum away from you.
The last thing I want is to let OSU score a defensive touchdown. He makes a living on that all season. That's respect for your oponent, that's how rivalry game gets to you. Plus, UM's kicking game is not that good. They missed an easy one last game against Northwestern. You know nothing about the big ten football. That question might be OK for post game conference, but absolutely doesn't make sense for half time when a coach is consumed in the intensity of the game.
Regardless of whether or not you agree with the decision to go for a score at the end, the response to the question is absolutely uncalled for. I may know nothing about Big 10 football, but you and your coach know jack **** about being classy.
Easy man. I said Although, "stupid" is a bit excessive. Seriously, you don't know jack about Carr. He might not be the best coach in the country, but he is an absolutely gentleman. The media has constantly annoyed him this whole season. I guess your personal attack on me showed your class? Please talk about something you DO know.
That's something. He could act like an ******* and treat a sideline reporter like trash when he's simply doing his job and asking a question that many were wondering. Or, he could make comments about homosexuals after being titty-whipped every single year of his current run at a school like one coach that comes to mind. I don't believe that Mack is a great coach by any stretch of the imagination, but he is a class act. micheon, good for you, you said "stupid" may be a bit excessive. Uh, ya think? He should've told the reporters that he wasn't answering any questions unless they were softballs.
Oh for people who want to take a jab at Carr, why don't you criticize the reporters poor class by asking a question second guessing a coach's decision while his team is donimation at the the half also.
All is forgiven. I do wish MIchigan can play Texas at ROse Bowl though. That should be an interesting matchup.
How is asking that question evidence of lacking class? Do my father, myself, or the announcers lack class because we/they wondered the same thing? He was simply doing his job and just because he didn't go down on your team or your coach doesn't make him unclassy.
Hey, I'm not apologizing for my views on Carr's actions, but thanks. That would be my dream matchup besides Texas staying ahead of Michigan and a combination of LSU/USC losses.
For one, he should do his homework working as a reporter for teh game. You and your father may not know, you don't need to know. But he's a reporter. For two, the tone of the question, is just second guessing the decision. What does he expect the coach to answer, seriously? He has so many worthy questions to ask.
OK, let's just assume for a minute that you're correct...he asked a stupid question and didn't do his homework. That, in no way, excuses Carr for his reaction. He could've easily "answered" the question by saying he was proud of the way his team played in the first half and was happy with the lead (which is pretty much the standard answer for whatever question is asked in this situation). He didn't need to treat the guy like dirt.
Agree here. He should just say something like "no comment, I'm just glad our team played great." Then again, he has every right to say every thing he said minus the "stupid" part. My view is the question really caught him off guard, and Loyld has been agonized by media all season long.
And the poor kid didn't even try to interview him after the game. He caught up with Edwards in stead.
On a second thought, it's not about the decision is right or wrong. That question is like ask a conservative coach "why are you so conservative, coach?". Carr is obviously more on the conservative side. And the man still has half a game to coach.
