Exactly. If Dez and Green got suspended immediately, these guys should too. But then the NCAA would lose a ton of $$ on one of their precious bowl games. And don't even get me started on the ruling that selling your possessions is being ruled a worse offense than a team paying for its star QB. NCAA is a joke.
So tis better to be paid in cash? Time to mount a civil law suit against the NCAA. Get Gloria Aldred!
Unbelievable hypocrisy by the NCAA. On what planet is it justifiable for them to play in the Sugar Bowl??
On what planet can't you sell your personal belongings? This system is r****ded. You guys are calling for them to be suspended? I say suspend the rules committee.
So you'd be OK with a team giving players stuff, and then players selling that stuff to boosters for $500,000? No issues at all with that? You've never been able to sell stuff that the school or NCAA gives you - it would be a big fat loophole around all the amateurism rules. AJ Green got suspended for this exact thing. Everyone knew it was wrong.
I'd be pissed if I were a Buckeye as well, but I'd be pissed at the players, not the system. Everyone knows you can't do that stuff. As a college football fanatic, it is absolutely ridiculous how the NCAA is letting them play in the bowl game. There is no justification other than the cash-money.
Wait, I just read what they are suspended for...selling their OWN stuff. NCAA....**** OFF !!! If you are worried about the scenario that Major outlined then just have them report their transactions, and to whom and amounts....problem solved. DD
Serious question - can kids on academic scholarship sell stuff they get by virtue of their academic scholarship? Books, other stuff? I understand how it's a "loophole" but then the violation is really the NCAAs fault for giving them valuable stuff. It's equally ridiculous to say were not going to pay you but we are going to give you valuable stuff, which you can't sell now but can later if you want. Makes no sense - if they are truly amateurs don't give them valuable title rings. Might as well just pay them. Would it make sense for the NCAA to pay them wig cash actually, but say you can't spend it. Of course not. But that's effectively what they've done.
They didn't earn them on their own. They earned those personal "belongings" under school activities. I didn't know if you were being serious, but... it's laughable that they sold them and even dumber that someone bought them.
The schedule isn't that brutal , due to it being the first 5 games . @ Miami will be their toughest game , home vs Michigan St will be tough. Rest of them , OSU should handle their business right ?
