Yeah i'm pretty sure the FBI can do this with a lot of troubled kids. Basically just pushing them over the edge.

FBI nabs one of these guys and it's "entrapment! anyone could have done this!" One slips through and kills people and it's "we need better strategies! How did they miss this guy!" Seriously, if this kid ended up killing someone the media and the lynch mobs would be out in full force wondering how he was missed when he was posting stuff on the internet that should have been red flags.
If the Boston bombers were caught before they carried out their plan, people would have probably not taken them seriously and/or accused the FBI of entrapment, etc.
The dad needs to shut his yap and get a lawyer. I know it's his son, so he's going to say anything, but really, he sounds like he's making it worse.
We have a poster in here saying it (could do this to a lot of kids, etc.) but whenever one of these arrests happen it always ends up with entrapment discussed. There was a thread in this section entirely dedicated to the FBI's "entrapment" of these poor people who would never have done this without the mean old FBI!
It's better that the FBI pushed him over the edge rather than some Jihadist nutcase with real connections. At least he didn't have a chance to kill anyone.
Unfortunate they would think this way. I've had the opportunity to work with several members of the FBI on their resumes, and although of course I am never privy to specific information (and we have to be very careful about what we present on the resume), I have talked with them in detail about their jobs, things like Presidential Details (where they have to scope out areas prior to a President's visit) and terrorism / counterterrorism operations. If there is one thing that all 5 of them emphasized, it is being as thorough as humanly possible- and that these operations are extremely delicate and challenging. I don't know about others, but these 5, all from different areas in the FBI, were genuinely good people and very dedicated to their work- and there have truly been many, many potential terrorist attacks or incidents thwarted since 2011. They just weren't allowed to mention them. :grin:

Profile, profile, profile. We NEED to take every Muslim more seriously. The depressed converts as well. It is an ideology that attracts bitter hatred and oppression of humanity and the moderates harbor many of the same views as extremists - they are just financially well off so they do not act on them. Until huge reformation are made in the Islamic world we cannot continue to suffer and have our understanding and civilized ways taken advantage of.
