I think it is pathetic that they are killing the animals. Why can't they just catch them?

My thoughts exactly. Killing the animals should be a last resort.

I think they felt that was their last resort and tranquilizers at the time wouldn't be an effective means.

    I may be wrong...

Apparently Ohio has some really lax laws with regards to exotic animals. Almost Texas-ish.

I saw a couple of episodes of some show called "Fatal attractions" pertaining to folks and their love for exotic animals and in some instances were "ish gets serious". A couple of the people on the show lived in Ohio.

Yep they actually brought in Jack Hanna to help. He explained that tranquilizers are not conducive to night time use in the situation they were in. It can cause the animals to initially get over excited and makes it more dangerous for the officers and increases the chance the animal goes into hiding and harder to find. I'm not exactly sure I understand it fully, but that is what he said. They were able to capture a few of them but I think it was 5 or less.

It's nuts that people can own these dangerous animals.

First thing I thought was what a few of you said. I hate that they killed the animals. They did nothing wrong, I'd bet some of them when they were put down posed no immediate threat to anyone. Some of them were simply wandering around, looking for a place to go.
