Jesus that would've been a serious contender lineup. Didnt even matter who played the four, Barkley couldve came back to get his ring he so deserved. Have any of you guys applied for one of the three spots that the rowdies still have available??

ok, losing another game wouldnt have locked up that #6 pick for us. OP you're acting like we lost a coin flip, where our only other outcome would be winning. Losing one more game just gave us a better chance of getting a higher pick. Who knows how that would have scrambled the order of the other teams. Hell, we may have ended up with the # 9 instead.....Patrick O-bryant anyone? Mouhamed Sene?

If you're going to whine about Portland stealing "our" players, I'll do you one better.

Portland bought the draft pick from Phoenix that became Rudy Fernandez. We were after THAT pick for THAT player.

I guess Les decided in hindsight to start shelling out the $$$ to get draft picks (Chase, Taylor, Llul or whatever his name is).

Or a foul-mouthed, cigar-smoking, plaid-flannel-wearing truck driver. Either way, better to concentrate on what you've got now.

Exactly.......that game is where I knew JVG was not in it for the long term best interests of the team.

I really doubt John Wall will fall out of the lottery. Don't get your hopes up that high.

No, but would you have passed up on LBJ/Melo just because you had Battier as SF? No

Implying that we're a lock to get a playoff spot are pretty high hopes too though... As of right now we can end up anywhere between a high seed playoff spot and one of the worst records in the league. I don't expect to be the worst and therefore have the best chance at #1, but you never know where we'll end up in a lottery, Yao is a a perfect example...

You're preference about wanting Battier instead of anyone is well known,no need to bring John Wall into it.
Not a single GM would have passed up on Roy for Shane. There is no comparison between the two.

Another what if thread huh? I'll one up you and remind everyone we passed on Clyde Drexler not once, but twice, in the 1983 NBA. And he was a freakin' home town boy.

The Roy threads are at least fresher than the annual "we could have Olajuwon, Drexler, AND Jordan" ones.

Don't forget it was compounded by not drafting our 3rd offensive threat.

uber FAIL thread. stupid to bring up now, stupid to have a thread on this when it's already brought up once every other week in some other thread, grammatical fail in thread title (might HAVE), and info fail in the main part of your post (Denver, not Minny)

Roy wouldn't have had a chance to get good on the Rockets though.

I feel you...I cringe each and every time we play Portland because of the fact that Roy could and would have been ours had JVG not decided to win a meaningless game that put us 8th instead of 7th in the draft. There's no reason to dwell on it though. Whats done is done. We can only look forward now.
