How can either get fleeced during mediocrity for both for years to come?

What y'all expect, you think Fred VV gets 40 million and OG the Original Gangsta didn't want that for himself?

Not the Offensive player Fred is but he fills a need at wing stopper.

I love the deal for the Knicks, but it could improve both teams. Quickley, to me, is an instant offense 6th man type ala Lou Williams. RJ has been underwhelming considering where he was picked. He can play some D and stick it from outside, but I don't see more. That said, he'll likely. benefit from getting away from Brunson. There could be a LITTLE upside.

OG should fit like a glove. He fills a need, on both sides... at a high level. This definitely translates to more W's for NY...makes them dangerous.

Agree with you. The downside for the Knicks is if they don't sign OG long term.

OG basically has more consistent Jabari stats on Offense without the rebounds......he is a seasoned veteran.

They didn't really spend any picks on the deal though....

    Not really?

They can SnT him for assets/ players if they want. Or just let him go. They only spent a measly 2nd to ditch the awful deal of RJ, and bringing back a quality 2 way wing in OG improves them right now.
    Not a bad rental

Perhaps the downside for the Knicks is if they DO max OG?

OG's agent is CAA sports: one of them is Sam Rose. Leon Rose' son. They likely have a number agreed with OG already.

    * Since Sports agents get a % cut of their player's salary. Rose(s) are guaranteed to line their pockets.
    * But, Leon is still responsible for the overall success of the Knicks, so he can't cripple the team with too ludicrous of an OG contract.

The extension with the Knicks is almost guaranteed. Just the number is a guess.

Interesting trade. Might be decent for both sides.

RJ Barrett is very interesting, He's 23 and has been efficient when thrust into the role of 2nd/3rd scorer. However, I do think he has years of improvement left in him and he has shown he can be a good defender. If playing on the Raptors means more catch and shoot (easier shots) with 3 other playmakers on the court (Siakam, Barnes, Schroeder) then perhaps they will be able to improve his efficiency. There are plenty of players who have flourished offensively after leaving Thibs, so that might help him too.

I think he's a good player just has to do less iso, more catch and shoot, keep working on his 3pt shot. His FT% has improved gradually and that's a great sign his 3PT shot will catch up. That will change the whole dynamic of his game if the Raptors can keep developing him.

I was thinking about this connection too, amazing how much tampering the Knicks get away with.

I think it's a good trade for both sides, but a bit the Knicks moreso.

I think the sum of Quickly and RJ is greater than OG and Precious but this really helps solidify in the Knicks roster. Toronto can do a soft rebuild if they can also get something for Siakom.

Wow. Surprised so many favor the Knicks, I thought they got robbed on this trade value-wise.

First of all IMO Barrett for OG is a lateral trade. I mean yes technically OG is the better player but he is also 3 yrs younger than RJ, who knows 3 yrs from now RJ might be better than OG already. More importantly though contract wise RJ might be called "overpaid" but OG was also looking at a 40M/year contract. Maybe he will lower his demands now he is in NY but I don't think it goes lower than 30M and tbh if he plays like he does RN I can see NYN being dumb and maxing him anyway. RJ is making 26M/yr, I don't think thats crazy money given the cap we have today lol.

Secondly IQ is one of the better guards and Raps got him as a throwaway. I mean yes he is gonna be a FA but at the same time I think IQ is worth the money to keep him, Raps got their starting pg for the next decade or w/e.

IMO this trade looks better for the Knicks than it really is because OG fills a need on that Knicks roster and fits Brunson timeline. At the same time both Brunson and IQ are small pgs so they don't work well together, but the way I see it Knicks lost a lot of possible value on that trade essentially selling low on both Barrett and IQ.

OTH Raptors got two starters and fixed some of their roster problems for just a 2nd round pick. One of their bigger issues is when FVV left them they thought Schroder would be a good enough replacement but he clearly wasn't starter material. Getting IQ means they can put Schroder back to the bench and getting Barrett means they can now trade Siakam and make Barnes the new PF. They won the trade IMO.

Knicks fans/media acting like they traded for an all-nba player/all star. They got a good role player. I think this honestly makes them slightly worse. Bad franchise gonna bad franchise

Most basic trade of all time.

This is like trading Trevor Ariza for Evan Turner,

What would be an NBA comparison of Quickley because they say he was not much of a point guard...

And he is not as athletic as Jalen Green.
